<img src="http://nsanedown.com/images/logos/VBox.png" class="logo" alt="VirtualBox" title="VirtualBox" />VirtualBox is an application installed on an existing host operating system; within this application, additional operating systems can be loaded and run, each with its own virtual environment. For example, several Linux distributions can be hosted on a single machine running Windows XP; likewise, XP and Vista can run on a machine running Linux, and so on. There is a free for personal or evaluation use proprietary version and a GNU General Public License (GPL) version.

I was waiting for auto update feature but in the end I decided to manually do the upgrade.

However, I don't understand why auto-update is saying there is no new version, it's been a quite some time since new release ...

I need some user reviews. I've found that people support Virtualbox more. But still what are advantages and disadvantages of both Virtualbox and VMware. I never used VMware and heard that it's bloated. But with what exactly, any examples?

Thanx for the info. :)

I wanted to try VMWare. But I'll go for Virtual Box. It's nice. Only problem is, task manager doesn't show exactly about how much memory does it take. Lets see how it behaves on Windows 7.

I remember it on XP, I had allocated 256MB to Ubuntu, and I had 500-600MB free RAM at that moment. Now my total RAM usage jumped to total 1100MB(including virtual memory). When I manage to open task manager, I found that none of the programs were taking more than 50MB, both normal RAM and virtual memory. Why so?

Math DK.. MATH.. I think actually it has to do with the fact its all Virtual... I have to still gt mine setup right... I wish had a way to run my Portable MacOSX.dmg image thing/installation VBox.. Linux is easy even from the disc.. I still have to use my Microsoft VHD and install/setup XP though.. Need to get to this soon..
