Hi!

I have a Pc with the following configuration:

Motherboard: Asus Crosshair Formula III

(http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=2Y4dQFaJ6gPN18cQ&templete=2)

Processor: AMD Phenom X4 965 125W

(http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/processors/phenom-ii/Pages/phenom-ii-model-number-comparison.aspx)

I have installed windows XP and so I only have 1GB of RAM

(OCZ Reaper HPC Dual Channel DDR3-1333 PC3-10666 CL9)

but I want migrate to Windows 7 x64 I would also increase to 4GB

RAM but I have doubt which the best memory or if they will be compatible!

I have doubt between:

Black Ready Edition OCZ Dual Channel 2x2 GB DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 (OCZ3BE1600C8LV4GK)

(http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_pc3_12800_black_edition_ready_cl8_dual_channel)

CORSAIR Dominator 2x2 GB DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 CL8 (CMD4GX3M2B1600C8)

(http://www.corsair.com/products/dominator/default.aspx)

CORSAIR Dominator-GT 2x2 GB DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 CL7 (CMG4GX3M2B1600C7)

(http://www.corsair.com/products/dominatorgt/default.aspx)

Someone could give some opinions?

I appreciate any response! Thank you!

@portoalto:

For benchmark: Link

For compatibility, check your manual ^_^

Thanks for reply but the link indicated is for

"Review triple-channel DDR3 i7", but my processor is AMD

and the motherboard is "Dual Channel memory architecture "!

What I would like to know is which of those I indicated is the best and the manual

of motherboard says it accepts "4 x DIMM, Max 16 GB, DDR3 1600 (OC) / 1333/1066 ECC,

Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory " that means to work with

DDR3 1600 will I have to do overclocking?

@portoalto:

All RAM are the same regardless of what peripheral you got in your computer.

The only thing of importance is whether the board supports it or not.

If your board manual indicates that it supports the RAM, then it should be fine even without overclocking.

Anyway, if my previous reference didn't help you out maybe this will: Link

Ok thanks for the reply once again!

And yes it suport the DD3 1600 so if I can use it without overclocking is fine! (I do not like to overclock)

Yes that one has CL7 (the others have CL8) and I have a laptop with Corsair and I have no reason to complain!

Thank you both for the interest in my question and the answers!

Make sure you know that your processor will support it or not.

I'm buying a new rig and I found that my processor will support max 1333MHz. Not that I want more speed than that. :sneaky:

@ DKT..

If your mobo supports your cpu and your ram.. than there's no problem.. (That's what I thought :P )

I think my (future)MOBO supports till 2200MHz if I'm not wrong. But few days ago I got it's manual online and it said something about 2.66GHz can only handle upto 1333MHz. Will have to search again to be sure about it.

Dunno about the 2.66 ghz.. but a modo just let's the components "communicate" with each other. If it supports higher speeds, like 1333 >> everything can go faster. A CPU can't limit the speed of a ram.

Yes we it can!

@portoalto

A topic you should read ;)

Your MoBo and CPU both say they can handle up to 1333 MHz, but Obama says: 'Yes we it can!' (handle more than that :D). (I tend to agree with him :P (Not making any political statement, I've got no idea what the guy stands for, really))

You should however always look for a shop (either online or off-the-line) with a good return policy ;)

@shought:

You may be right about that. One of the things I can think that can limit RAM speed would be stability.

Usually, one can gauge RAM speed using benchmark utilities and RAM stability using stress tests.

Hi!

Thank you guys for all your replys!

I googled a bite and find that my processor can handle up to 4 sticks of memory PC3-10600 / DDR3-1333MHz!

shought

I read the topic you indicate and what I understand is that my processor only works with DDR3 1600 if I make

overclock (which I not intend to do) so is better I get the DDR3-1333MHz memory and avoid problems of

incompatibility!

So I ask you all which the following is the best?

OCZ Platinum Low Voltage 2 x 2 GB DDR3-1333 PC3-10666 (OCZ3P1333LV4GK)

OCZ Gold Low Voltage 2 x 2 GB DDR3-1333 PC3-10666 (OCZ3G1333LV4GK)

OCZ Reaper HPC Dual Channel 2 x 1 GB DDR3-1333 PC3-10666 CL9

(I can`t find 2 x 2 GB)

CORSAIR XMS3 DHX 4 GB (kit 2x 2 GB) DDR3-SDRAM CL9 PC10666 (TW3X4G1333C9DHX)

Sorry to be so boring but I wanted everything to work well together and that the Pc do not give me problems

and I feel that you can help me get it!

There's no problem to be thorough.

I'm myself going for Kingston, you may also check them. ;)

Hi!

But I heard that Kingston was not reliable!

I do not know to what extent this is true!

They have solved those problems of the past?

If you are going for bit expensive RAM. You should surely check the Kingston Hyperx series. ;)

Ok then I'll check and see these!

Thanks for the advice!
