A few weeks ago, we noted that the Denver, CO-based design company Aten Design Group was holding a funeral for Internet Explorer 6 (IE6), the much-hated browser. The funeral took place last night. It wasn’t without controversy as there were protestors, and even a bouquet of flowers sent by Microsoft. But overall, it looks like it was a classy ceremony.

I don't really know.. and you'll pardon me if I seem to truncate this... but I don't know who in their right mind would be using anything but the most recent version... If it in their control.. especially corporations. IE6 and IE7 were full of vulnerabilities.. there was quite a bit of hoopla going on for awhile.. then it just died... IE6 got sick and died... Poor IE6... I guess if it hadn't have been for the fact that it was around in the 80's and 90's .. during the AIDS crisis.......Well you get the picture ( IE6.. you whore... )

But yeah those guys with those signs.. for laughs.. yeah okay at the ceremony.. but man something has to be really off with people who are like that for real.. LOL.. I never discriminate.. ALL browsers are welcome...LOL

You fail to realize that not everybody thinks that way (even if they should), hell, there are some companies/organizations still using archaic operating systems such as Windows NT. Some people just don't WANT to change regardless if it's for better or for worse :/

Yeah.. true.. what I meant right there..

.. and you'll pardon me if I seem to truncate this...

I started to say something about money and upgrading systems being something to do with it.. but you know its absolutely free to upgrade IE... Then of course you have time being money and many other things.. including sitting around being indecisive about it..

I don't know you know I even grew up with the feeling and idea that all previous versions of everything, cars, buildings, .. everything .. should be recycled back into resources.. and only the most recent ones used.. with the exception of course of things like... as an example... a completely restored ( or original ).. 1931 Voisin C20 Mylord Demi-Berline... but things that have lived a hard life and have truly had their time.. need to go.. I think people who don't contribute to progress are actually contributing to regression.. and slowing our development on a global level.. ( much like the sickening world of barter and trade ) by not really giving input to move forward or even only being loyal to one thing blindly.. a sort of dissemination.. which really throws a wrench in the works.. BUT.. what do you do?

My condolences to IE6. :beg:

He was a great person. When he lived he made internet richer(with vulnerabilities), he made us powerful(with lots of slowdowns), he made us independent(by adding X-rated sites in it's block list even without asking us), he made us happy(the type of happiness that comes after the pain of repairing it), he made us laugh(on ourself).

Wish to (never) see that guy again.

:o Heyyyy Internet Explorer turned out be male after all, is it? Darn, Microsoft has always been mailing me regular Windows download notifications concerning vulnerabilities warning about the gaping Internet Explorer holes, so you know I thought . . . . . . . . . :D

IE :lmao:

my condolences :pope:

but seriously friends ,

people dont think , like they should.

a few days back , my neighborhood aunt got some computer problem . ( it was going crazy , and just routine maintenance tasks and anti virus scans fixed the problem ,,, but she did loose some data to bad sectors )

i then told her , she should use firefox for browsing .

n she was like " whats firefox . ? is it some kind of internet service microsoft is giving with IE ? "

could any one link firefox so foolishly ?????:lmao:

i just downloaded the latest firefox and showed her a few ways of customising it ,,,,

n she was like " hey ,, every website is opened in one single window ! . this cat up here is very nice ( personas ) !. where are those irritating ads ? and hell its fast !!!!! "

i couldnt help enjoying her face expressions ( no wonder , she just forgot about the lost data ) :)

when i asked her ' did she really never knew about firefox ? '

n she was like " i never thought , there is any thing like a web browser ? i just thought you want to use internet , u use internet explorer that is IE !!!! "

there you see guys ,

people are just happy the way they are .

they dont want to change from the routine and miss out on all the goodies .

and i bet there aint a derth of such kinda jokers out there ....

Yeah I have run across several people who are completely mystified by what is the Internet.. and protection.. I feel sorry for people like that because they are just totally left out in the dark..

You may also want to check out Abstradome HDD Regenerator for the Bad Sectors problem or get her a new drive..

yes heath , there are plenty of complete nerds/dummies out there who dont know a shit about internet or for that reason about computers ,,leave about talkin to them about security or any thing else !!they are majority ...

this aunt is a regular visitor at my home , n only when her system was not running like it should, according to her , she asked me to have a look .

she was like-- 'there cannot be any virus , i use antivirus and the system is most secure and clean and i cannot be hacked . antivirus takes care of my entire pc !'

n i told myself WTF she talkin ...

she was using some guardian antivirus and according to her it regularly updated ..

no wonder , when her pc was found full of tracking cookies , trojans , and all the things which shouldnt be there , with avast free scanner !

1.35 gb of crap was cleaned from her pc using the cleaners and God knows how many errors and optimizations were done ...

she uses one password for all her accounts , even bank ones , and that also is her grand daughter s name !!!!

so then they say ,

how was i hacked. or why is the system not running like it should ????

lol ...

anw ,

she told me , she would be getting a new pc ( with the best cpu in the market :lmao:) , so she dint care about her lost data .

she dint even know what was lost !!!

for my own back up options ,,

does ,Abstradome HDD Regenerator, also help to recover data from bad sectors also ??

Well I believe that Abstradome will help repair an HD with bad sectors.. but to successfully rid the HD of the bad sectors that are marked as such you have to reformat and repartition the drive ) I was going to use it to recover a very old HD, but never got around to it.. ( I couldn't get it to show up right or in the right order from BIOS, while using the main HD.. ) It was going to be a test anyway.. So it may be a solution.

BUT.. R-Studio is supposed to be able to do this..as well

* Deleted without Recycle Bin, or when Recycle Bin has been emptied;

* Removed by virus attack or power failure;

* After the partition with the files was reformatted, even for different file system;

* When the partition structure on a hard disk was changed or damaged. In this case, R-Studio utilities can scan the hard disk trying to find previously existing partitions and recover files from found partitions.

* From hard disk with bad sectors. R-Studio Data Recovery Software can first copy the entire disk or its part into an image file and then process the image file. This is especially useful when new bad sectors are constantly appearing on the hard disk and remaining information must be immediately saved.

The only time I have not been able to recover a file was when I shredded it with Eraser... So this one I have played with.. One file that was done with one pass.. acted like it was recovered.. and so I tried to open the file.. but the data was damaged too much to do any good at all..LOL (but advisable to use DoD standard.. Basically anything that has not been overwritten and the data scrambled.. You actually have to repair the improperly magnetized data on bad sectors.. when the medium for the HD starts to go bad or degenerate you start to get these problems and while you may repair them over and over.. you may not be able to bring it back to life..LOL

You will want the Network Edition has some good features.. this could recover your data.. as far as repairing a disk that keeps having them show up.. depending on its age anywhere from 8-10 years on.. you should simply think about replacing the hardware. But as long as the data has not been over written you should probably be able to scan the drive and recover the data...

The two links will basically give a little more information ... R-Studio I have used, Abstradome caught my eye because of the re-alignment of the magnetization.. ( or w/e ) and I have it as a back up tool for this stuff..with a few more..

Did you try a Disk Scan with all options checked in Properties for the drive?.. just wondering.. A GB of data is quite a bit.. The problem is if the infection is within the data as well.. The best bet is to shred something like that with like 35 passes.. ( another 'Night of Living Dead Malware' .. LOL )..

Older HD tools have a tendency to have problems like this as well.. so make sure your stuff.. ( and her's ) is up to par.. I remember an old disk wiper/reformat-er/partition-er I had killed an HD I had once because of that very thing.. for whatever reason..

thanks for the links heath ....

bookmarked them for future reference ! :)

( in case bad luck drives in , n i might be needing just the right tool .... )

did a quick disc scan with one of the tools in hiren's boot cd ( dont remember exactly which one , something like xyz disc inspector .... )

and it reported simply good sectors and unable to read from this much part .....

dint go into much details , as m myself also not much comfortable with hardware , and feared i might add to her unknown lost data .....;)

one little tool that has come handy to me many times is recuva .

good recovery tool for simple deleted data ....

Finally, it's dead. Quick, somebody go mutilate the grave site with demonic forces so that nobody will be foolish enough to one day raise the dead (because if they do then, it will be their demise).
