Laptop issue

I bought my laptop in 2015 so it is getting up there in age i assume. One day a few weeks ago it shutdown 3 times on mw within a 10 minute period. it has been fine ever since. I decided to image the machine just in case something happens to it. After about 20 minutes during imaging it is turning off again. I tried 2 different  imaging software and it happens with both after 20 minutes.

Does it sound like this laptop is on its way out or could something else be causing this? Your opinions are most welcomed plz.

Thx

I put a desktop fan next to it to cool the laptop down and the image ran just fine and finished normally.

It's very simple, your computer has been uncleaned/not maintained for a long time, and it's full of dust and condensed fat vapors inside.

The fan blade and cooling radiator are also covered with a mixture of dust and grease.

As a result, it does not cool down normally and the computer overheats.
Clean them and wash the radiator with detergent and everything is OK.

It's also recommended wash fan blades with detergent.

Depending on the environment of use, a normal laptop is cleaned inside about 2-4 times a year.

If the fan not works at all anymore you might need a new one instead, it can happen after years. I also recommend using new Thermal Paste for the cooler, often they use the cheapest per default and not work perfectly anymore after so many years too. Maybe also check the socket contacts for example the RAM.
