Call of Duty: Warzone Has Surpassed 500,000 Banned Accounts

You Try to Cheat, You Get the Beat

The fight is endless against cheaters and people looking to ruin the fun of honest gamers. There’s a whole industry to combat when it comes to hacking and cheating tools. Not long ago, a video game cheating ring with a revenue of over $76 million was shut down. Call of Duty games are some of the most popular online games and not surprisingly, home to a countless cheaters. Actually, they are not countless. Call of Duty: Warzone developer Raven Software recently gave an update on the total number of accounts they have banned since the battle royale game launched in 2020.

Just yesterday, Raven Software announced that they had “Banned over 30,000 malicious accounts across Call of Duty” just the day before. That brought the total number of banned accounts since Warzone’s launch to over 500,000. That’s not a milestone that we love to see, but it is a testament to their effort to deter cheating. Of course, “malicious accounts” do not necessarily mean cheaters or hackers. They could be players that abuse community guidelines in other ways, like use of hate speech. Also, multiple accounts could be used by single users. After all, there are no lengths cheaters won’t go to to be awful people.

Unfortunately, there appear to be many honest users whose information is stolen and used by hackers and cheaters, which end up as one of these half-million banned accounts. This often leaves these players without their accounts returned or restored to them and in some cases permanently banned. Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
