nsane.forums
Managed service promises secure and easy-to-deploy virtualised systems The European arm of NTT Communications has launched a new service aimed at boosting enterprise use of virtualisation. NTT Europe Online said that its Global Virtualisation Service offers a secure and easy-to-deploy virtualised system on which to run applications and maximise the efficiency of IT infrastructures. The company already provides the service the US and Asia. "Virtualisation is an efficient way to manage and balance data and computing power requirements," said Damian Skendrovic, vice president of managed services at NTT Europe Online. "For many companies, the physical location of data is important for compliance, legal reasons, serving new markets, and so on, so access to a proven global network of datacentres is crucial. Skendrovic was also keen to play up the global nature of the service, saying it offered "equivalent installation and service level agreements across three continents". NTT Europe Online said that typical benefits include fast rollout and small upfront costs, and the ability for customers to hand over development and design, and avoid the burden of installation tweaks and operational issues. Other features include one-stop monitoring through a portal, which the company said will let firms create virtual snapshots of their machines, test new versions or patch existing software. Integration services, such as migrating email and web applications to a virtualised environment, are also offered. View: Original Article
