HATE9X
sounds bs. it's just prefetching. overall my ram usage hasn't been very high and apps always get full priority when starting to use and aren't missing ram.better than idling. 7 ftw so far
shought
I've got 2 GB of RAM and all it ever uses with normal usage is 1, if I do some image editing/gaming/video playback it becomes a little higher, but overall, can't say it's using too much RAM. shought
946 MB: Windows 7, Firefox, WLM, WMP(video).I mean yeah, it's a lot more than XP, but as long as performance doesn't suffer you don't hear me crying.

Administrator DKT27 Posted February 20, 2010 Administrator Share Posted February 20, 2010 As long as I know, Windows is designed the way that if RAM is available, it will take it, no matter how much you have. And sometimes it will harm if taking too much RAM. That's why it's important that you don't overRAM your computer. ;)
harpua
The authors of that "report" obviously don't understand how the advanced memory management of W7 works. Unused ram is wasted ram. W7 is just caching free ram to optimize performance. If more ram is ever needed by an app, it is instantly released from cached ram and made available to the app that needs it. Hence there are no problems and don't be alarmed by the apparent high memory usage of W7.
Bizarre™
As long as the RAM is used efficiently, there's no problem. If it's a memory leak, that's another story
