mood
New leak says that the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti will feature 12GB of GDDR6X VRAM and 10,240 CUDA cores The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is now speculated to come with 12GB of GDDR6X VRAM and 10,240 CUDA cores. Its 320-bit memory interface will allow for 730Gb/s of memory bandwidth, identical to that of the GeForce RTX 3080. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is likely to be launched in February 2021 (image via Nvidia) At this point, there have been several speculations about what the yet-to-be-launched Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti could have in store for us. Some time ago, we stumbled upon some alleged benchmarks that showed the card in action. However, there were several discrepancies in the test methodology, and the actual card itself, such as different GPU-Z versions, Nvidia drivers, and more (H/T Tomshardware). Therefore, it is very likely that the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti tested there is fake. Some new alleged Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti specs have surfaced via Twitter user @kopite7kimi, who has been relatively spot-on about several Nvidia releases in the past. On several occasions, the user suggested that the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti would come with 20GB of GDDR6X RAM now says that Nividia has cut it down to 12GB. The number of CUDA cores still stands at 10,240, same as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090. Other parameters such as memory bandwidth, bus width and clock speed are expected to be closer to the GeForce RX 3080's values. 12GB of VRAM is the ideal sweet spot for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. Not only does it offer an incremental upgrade over the vanilla GeForce RTX 3080, but is also further enough from the GeForce RTX 3090 to warrant the nearly US$400 price difference. Furthermore, GDDR6X memory modules are somewhat rare, so 8GB fewer VRAM will help OEMs manufacture more GeForce RTX 3080 Ti units. Regardless of the amount of VRAM it has, one will still be hard-pressed to get their hands on one, given the massive global shortages and all.
