Office 2010 Fixes & Discussion

Thanks, but I didn't want to touch proprietary formats, so I went with ISO. All I did was open the ISO with UltraISO, delete some things, and remake ISO.

No crack is included, but there is a Mini KMS activator floating around for use with RTM. I don't know about the MF mirror as my UL speed sucks, and I've still got x64 to do.

If anyone else with good UL speed feels like mirroring it, then they help everyone.

Microsoft Office 2010 Select Edition (x86)

3.25 GBs

Microsoft Office 2010 Proofing Tools Kit (x86)

763 MBs

Much appreciated CODYQX4!

I'm just wondering now how long the trial is for the one you posted? Is it a 30 day trial if no fixes are used?

It it the exact ISO WZOR posted with all different options that popup in the screenshot I quoted removed, expect for Pro Plus, Visio, and Project Pro.

It's VLK version, but I got no key. I hear you can run VLK past the trial and not get disabled, just nagged. There is a crack out there called mini KMS activator 1.051. It's supposed to activate VLK for 180 days (not sure if it needs keys), but it can also rearm office for another 30 days.

I'm personally just going to rearm to wait for new cracks, because I want permanent activation without KMService installed and running on my PC constantly.

I remember activating Office 2007. All I had to do was double click a registry file and it was permanently activated  !

A permanent activation should arrive soon...hopefully! :D!

That's because Office 2007 could be activated offline. Microsoft have now changed this in Office 2010, so now you must activate online! It's proving to be a tough cookie.

Yeah, office 2010 is going to be harder than Win 7, no OEM thing or nothing. It will be cracked though, even if we have to patch files.

According to Microsoft, Office 2010 will also allow phone activation:

Volume Activation Methods

Office 2010 uses the same volume activation technology as Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

Key Management Service (KMS). KMS uses a host computer to establish an activation service on your local company network. With a KMS host you can activate thousands of computers at the same time when they regularly connect to the company network. If you use a KMS host to activate Windows, you can use the same host to activate Office 2010.

Multiple Activation Key (MAK). With MAK, each computer activates Office 2010 with the Microsoft hosted activation servers over the Internet or by phone. MAK is recommended when you have fewer than 50 computers to activate, and for computers that are not regularly connected to the company network.

Most large companies will use a combination of KMS and MAK. Select a scenario for the steps.

A lot of medicine I have seen for other other programs use the phone activation method to generate a permanent key. Perhaps this can also be done for Office 2010 too?

At least you can rearm Office 2010 5 times and get 180 days! Yeah during that time something should come up.

Office 2007 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) took 275MB. Office 2010 32-bit with the same apps takes 435MB. There is a splash screen which opens up everytime you open an Office file, which was annoying to me at first but I'm more used to it now. The icons for the apps have changed hugely, plus they don't align themselves with the other icons on the taskbar well, this may have been intentional though to make it stand out. >_<

Performance is a little mixed, opening files takes a little longer, but shutting files is quicker. Memory usage is higher in every app, but only by a few MB.

Annoying: if you download any Office file like a Word file from the internet, Office won't let you edit it. It gives a big warning about the file being obtained from internet and you have to click on enable editing to edit it, it does remember this setting for that file which is a relief. This must be a security feature but it gets annoying if you have many Office files from web.

I always use the Sysinternals "streams" command to get rid of that nonsense: Streams v1.56

In my Downloads and Documents directories, I just run

streams -s -d *

from time to time.

EDIT: There's more info on streams here.

Nothing, maybe I posted wrong hash. What is your hash?

MD5: 39B7E22F6DF991A5E120F9DD3BF29559

Edit: they are same? Hashtab said different!

That hash is valid, I posted it for x86, I RE DL and it's 39B7E22F6DF991A5E120F9DD3BF29559. Yours is good.

I use HashTab too, maybe you copied hash wrong?

I actually only installed HashTab when I realised you had posted the hashes for the file. So after installing HashTab, I compared the MD5 of ISO and it gave that red cross, I just tried it again and it works this time! Don't know if it's some kind of bug on first use or something. HashTab hasn't been updated for a long time but hey everything works fine now so I'll stop complaining!

I'm gonna mess with activation after PC backup. I want to see if it can be activated using the activate.cmd method (frankenbuild of public beta). I kept those files when I used RC. This is pretty useless for anyone who don't have those files. I don't see MS activating the beta much longer.

You can rearm 180 days total without cracking, might as well get it and install now.

@ CODYQX4, I know.. but won't there be any nagging/restrictions?

/Updated main post.

Edit...

What exactly did you remove in your release? I just need the basics tho.. But just curious. nvm:)
