As our day to day lives become increasingly digital, securing our online accounts has become more important than ever but what happens when our credentials are exposed in a data breach?

The CyberNews data leak checker database contains hashed email addresses and leak sources from various breaches. To protect this data, all of the information in the database is hashed with one of the safest hashing algorithms currently available, the Blowfish-based crypt also known as bcrypt.

I checked the link...it took me to a TechRadar page and the first thing it asks if I agree to them contacting me

about offers and the second thing it asks if they can pass my email to their partners (so they can send me offers).

Then it recognized that I am in South America and tells me to click another link to take me to that database of my area.

The link opens a page full of offers but no sign of any data leak tool. Click bait They seem more interested in getting

our email to sell us stuff, than actually just giving us access to the "data leak tool".

Anyway, I use Spybot Identity Monitor which alerted me a few years ago to breaches that affected me. I immediately changed

my passwords to much stronger versions for my important accounts and since then I've had no more warnings. The breaches

were large scale hackings that stole millions of email details.

Sorry, that's really piss-poor behaviour byTechRadar.

 

I've corrected the Cybernews link to point to CyberNews, not to some unrelated TechRadar article. Also added a link to the Cybernews' tool at the top of the article.

Lol, Karlston, I clicked on the new link ( CyberNews tool is here.) at the top of the article

and it took me to the Cybernews page. I put my email in the box and clicked "check now"

and......nothing!!! I checked that NoScript wasn't blocking it, and tried again...still nothing...maybe they've been "compromised" lol.
