PlayerUnknown's Better Games

A new PUBG update has landed, and it's bringing a new PUBG reputation system with it. There are also a couple of new and returning gameplay features as well as a brand new vehicle to check out.

How does the reputation system work in the new PUBG update?

When you're in the Team Finder or the Team Member list, you'll now be able to see a new reputation marker next to a player's name. This marker will range from zero to five, with zero representing a bad reputation. Purposefully obstructing gameplay, being abusive, or killing teammates is likely to lead to a reduction in reputation if your teammates report you. Conversely, it's possible to raise your reputation rank by being cooperative with other players. This new system will make it easier for you to spot potentially toxic teammates and steer well clear of them.

What else is in the new PUBG update?

In addition to the reputation system, PUBG parent company Krafton also announced the return of the Pick'em Challenge for the upcoming PUBG Global Invitational .S event. You can obtain voting tokens by watching broadcasts or purchasing items exclusive to the event. Once you have tokens, you can use them to guess winners. Guessing correctly will result in an EP reward, which you can then redeem for more Global Invitational-exclusive items. Of all proceeds from these items, 30% will be donated to the rather sizable $3.5 million prize pool. Rather uniquely, new screens around the Erangel and Miramar maps will now display PGI.S streams, and while the tournament is offline, they'll display trailers.

You'll also find a brand new vehicle to check out in the form of the Coupe RB. Krafton and the PUBG devs describe it as a "vintage sports car with a blazing top speed of 150 km/h", which makes it second in land speed only to the Motorbike vehicle. This car will be available to check out on the Erangel, Miramar, and Sanhok maps. Finally, there's an incremental update to the Ranked gameplay mode. This update allows for some safe time should you never end up with a fully-formed team. If you're still alive and leave within five minutes after the player disconnects, your leaver penalty will be waived.

That's it for updates on PUBG itself, but it's been a fairly eventful few weeks for the game and its parent company Krafton. On Tuesday, Bloomberg reported that Krafton is going public later this year with a staggeringly huge estimated value of $27 billion. In addition, we reported just a couple of weeks ago that a project codenamed "Project XTRM" was actually potentially a sequel to PUBG. We'll bring you more on these developments as soon as we get them.
