Dell announces new Latitude and Chromebook laptops for education

Recommended Posts

Today, Dell is announcing a couple of new laptops that are aimed at the educational market. First up is the Chromebook 3100 with LTE, and the value here is that it has, you guessed it, 4G LTE connectivity. Students can be connected to the internet from wherever they are, while the schools providing the units don't have to pay a high price for them.

It uses a dual-core Intel Celeron processor, although Dell didn't say exactly which SKU it is. On top of that, it comes with an 11.6-inch HD screen, up to 32GB eMMC storage, up to 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, and ports like USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C.

And then there's the Latitude 3120, a Windows 10-powered device. This one includes Intel's new 10nm Pentium Silver and Celeron processors, but from the quad-core variants. It also supports things like Wi-Fi 6 for fast connectivity, although there's no cellular in this particular PC.

Both of these devices are meant to withstand drops up to 48 inches and 12-ounce spills. On the Latitude 3120 2-in-1, it comes with Dell Active Pen support as well.

The Chromebook 3100 with LTE is coming this spring, and Dell isn't confirming pricing right now. The Latitude 3120 is coming on January 19, starting at $429.
