Windows 10 Alarms & Clock app gets a major redesign for Insiders

 

 

Windows Insiders in the Dev channel are getting a major update for the Windows 10 Alarms & Clock app, with a brand new design first spotted by ChangeWindows on Twitter. The new version of the app changes almost everything about the way the app looks, moving the pivot items at the top to a sidebar and changing pretty much every screen inside the app.

 

According to Zac Bowden of Windows Central, this is our first look at the direction Microsoft is taking with Windows 10 as a whole. A recent report shed light on Sun Valley, the codename for a major UI overhaul making its way to Windows 10 in the second half of 2021, and this seems to be a part of that. Other Windows 10 apps will get a similar treatment in the future, and other elements of Windows 10 will be affected as well. This includes the Start menu, Action Center, Taskbar, and the File Explorer.

As for the Alarms & Clock app itself, the changes are extensive. Every section of the app has seen a facelift, but the Timer and Alarm pages are likely the most prominent. Items in these pages are displayed with cards that feature more visual flair and more at-a-glance information to boot, as seen in the Alarms page above.

 

There are also some new icons and changes to other sections of the app, as well as the dialogs for creating new alarms and timers, which no longer take up the full screen. You can get a full look at the changes in ChangeWindows' blog post on Medium.
