iOS users can soon use Microsoft Authenticator as their password manager

iOS users could soon be able to replace the iCloud keychain feature on their iPhones for automatically filling in passwords with Microsoft Authenticator. The two-factor authentication app from the Redmond firm has begun prompting some users of the addition of a password manager, with the feature termed as “coming soon”.

 

Folks over at Microsofters have managed to get the feature working on a beta version of the app and have posted a few screenshots. Users will be able to head to the password autofill provider option in settings and choose Authenticator as the manager, a welcome addition for those that use Microsoft’s services.

 

 

Once available, passwords saved in Microsoft Edge – linked to users’ Microsoft account – will become available in the app under a “Passwords” section. The addition is especially nifty for iOS users that prefer the Edge browser since credentials can be synced across multiple platforms – including Windows 10 and Android. Apple’s in-built solution, however, is limited to just iOS and macOS.

 

With the feature showing up on the beta version of the app, it will not be long before it makes it to all users.
