Demonoid Is Open To All Without An Invite

demonoid.jpgIn September Demonoid went down with overwhelming hardware problems but fully returned in the middle of December, much to the relief of its members.

Despite this extended downtime, the semi-private tracker came in at an impressive 20th place in our list of Top 25 torrent sites of 2009.

With hundreds and thousands of daily visitors and an Alexa rank of 657 last month, it’s undoubtedly a popular site, especially since one needs an invite to gain access.

Well, normally that’s the case. Currently the situation is different.

Whether this is a bug (maybe as a result of the admins having to rewrite some of the site code after the crash) or entirely intentional, we just don’t know, but currently it seems that anyone can browse and download torrents from Demonoid without being a member.

We’re not exactly sure how long this has been the case, but it has been a little while now, perhaps since the site returned after its break.

Demonoid, it seems, has changed from a semi-private to a public tracker.

Enjoy!

Thanx for the offer devilzin, but I have a fully functional account there. But I cannot give invites from 6 months.

The reason I'm sad is that many guys want the account and I'm unable to give them invites. :(

So I thought............

I've noticed this also. You can browse the site without being registered. What you can't do (obviously) is to upload torrents.

Yea. I think "(Bug)" should be added to the title or similar.

Whatever it is they better not screw up again, I'm fed up of them screwing up. I worked hard to get what you see in this pic and I would hate to see my hard work disappear.

5.81 gb uploaded... hmm not totally blown away by that number ;)

1- uploads are always slower, two rate is what counts! B)

I've only been a member for 3 weeks, that's why I don't want them to screw up else I may lose my account. Ever since I heard about the legendary Atasas charms I decided to pirate it and use it to boost my ratio. So far so good, you really gotta love those Atasas charms! In a year time my numbers will be larger but it's the ratio I'm after right now to stockpile it for when I need it.

I seed a lot but it's hard for my ratio to be counted.

I would have at least uploaded 15-20 GB on Demonoid and downloaded 10 GB. But my counts tells different story.

@Leet: Who's the guy in you avatar here on nsane.forums and on Demonoid. thinking-021.gif

If you want your uploads to be counted for sure then do these steps:

1. Force outgoing protocol encryption.

2. When you download any torrent from Demonoid, always disable DHT and disable Peer Exchange, Local Peer Discovery is only for people on your own LAN so kill that if you use shared Internet.

The guy in my pic is Arthas from Warcraft, my favourite character I guess. I always found myself to be a little similar to his character, my heart is frozen at many times in real life, or so my friends tell me.

That's not the problem at all. It's that my router disconnects very fast. So I get a new IP everytime. And there's a huge procedure to be done for ratio being counted on demonoid if you have a dynamic IP. See this post.

Change your avatar and change your heart. :)

It disconnects when you start up uTorrent? What about for normal browsing with no torrents or p2p? Sometimes routers crash when the number of connections exceed the number it is capable of using. Try reducing the number of simultaneous connections on uTorrent to a smaller number like 50 max. Also you could reduce the number of half open connections to 10. Also set the global upload rate to 50% of your upload capacity, and enforce 1 upload slot per torrent, be sure to disable the setting that opens more upload slots if the bandwidth is <90%.

If at all possible you may consider purchasing a better dsl modem/router. Check if there are firmware updates for your current model first.

Had the same problem with my old Router.. The tips Leet gave you worked for me. Not 100% but my connection would be up for a longer period.

No no. I have a D-Link ADSL +2 router that sucks. Only ADSL is allowed by my ISP. The model was soo bad that it's disconnects everytime there's a single bit of power fluctuation. This model is known one of the worse. The problem is when I took it, this was the only model available.

I'm planning to buy a new model of D-Link but when I check the reviews, most of the guys say that it disconnects every 5 mins. :(
