Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered announced, landing November 6

Following a mysterious countdown and some unfortunate leaks, Electronic Arts formally announced Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered today, bringing back the Criterion Games-developed 2010 title for modern platforms with graphics enhancements, cross-play, and more.

Alongside the base game that offers the usual high-speed races and police chases, the remaster includes all of the post-launch premium DLC – the SCPD Rebel Racer Pack, Super Sports Pack, Armed & Dangerous Pack, Lamborghini Untamed Pack, and Porsche Unleashed Pack – and cross-platform multiplayer support. Autolog is also returning for players looking to beat their friends' high scores across all modes.

The inclusion of all the DLC packs adds on over six hours of gameplay as well as 30 new challenges. The remaster also comes with new achievements, car colors, wraps, an updated photo mode, as well as improvements to various gameplay elements for a better overall experience.

Over on the visuals side, the developer touts "higher-resolution models, more objects and props, longer draw distance, higher resolution shadows, improved videos, upressed UI, higher resolution reflections, boosted textures, more particles, and improved AA/SSAO."

The PC version will support up to 4K resolution at 60FPS, while Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro players will be able to choose between 4K at 30FPS and 1080p at 60FPS modes. The base versions of these consoles will run the game at 1080p 30FPS. Meanwhile, on the Nintendo Switch, the remaster will perform at 1080p 30FPS when docked and 720p 30FPS when undocked.

This Hot Pursuit remaster's development is being handled by Stellar Entertainment, the same studio that was behind the Burnout Paradise remaster from 2018. Just like that release, not all platforms are getting the game on the same day.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is releasing across PC (Origin and Steam), Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on November 6, followed by a Nintendo Switch launch that happens on November 13. It is now available for pre-order.

A remastered version of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is set to be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 6th, as well as Nintendo Switch on November 13th.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is one of the most beloved titles in the franchise and debuted way back in 1998. However, this remaster isn’t an updated version of the original title, but is instead based on Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit from 2010.

With this in mind, the updated game will include the same vehicles and the same cops vs. racers theme. Key updates are focused on taking advantage of modern-day hardware. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit also includes cross-platform multiplayer support so gamers can play with their friends regardless of what system they are using.

Gamers who have a PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch can run the game at 1080p at 30 fps, while those using a PlayStation 4 Pro or Xbox One X can select between a 1080p 60fps performance mode and a 4K 30fps ‘fidelity mode.’ Last, but not least, those using PC can play at a maximum of 4K at 60 fps.

The game lands with all of the DLC updates that the original game had, plus an updated photo mode and a range of new achievements. It also includes the Autolog social network that gamers can enjoy.

Console users will be able to purchase Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered for $39.99 on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, while those with a PC can get it from Stream and Origin for $29.99.
