Thanks for the update, CometBird.

I've tried Opera 10.10 recently, but some things seem to work the opposite of all other browsers I have tried (Firefox, SRWare Iron, Google Chrome, IE 8 ). For instance, opening a link in a new foreground tab is normally Ctrl + Shift + Left Click, but with Opera it's Shift + Left Click. And cycling through tabs (left to right) is normally Ctrl + Tab, but with Opera that goes the opposite way so you have to use Ctrl + Shift + Tab.

I tried to find a way to change these and other tab shortcuts in Opera, but there doesn't seem to be any way. :frusty:

@CometBird: Do you use Opera? If so, what do you think of it?

hello dear SHERLOCK:D

ya sometimes i use opera.but acc my experience its a very good browser next to firefox(cometbird).but only negative effect its browsing speed.if it meets our firefox in terms of speed then opera wil become worlds best browser coz its less prone to threats as i said before.

by da end of 2009 firefox is da single web browser which recorded da most vulneerable threats n crash reports and it stood first among al da browsers in this point.anyhow til now firefox rules da web world:P:dance2:

my order of preference

cometbird,firefox,opera

i dont even think about chrome.it dissatisfied me in every aspect.

ya 4 got to tel ,i dont use shortcuts in browsers,so i cant answer regarding this.;)

To me this what I see here, 'Opera Web Browser 10.50 Build 3199 Beta its pre alpha but can be considered as beta'.. IMO Pre-Alpha is pre-alpha stage.. Alpha is Alpha.. and Beta is beta.. In development, the stages actually do mean something, though they ( in rare cases, may not change much from Alpha to Beta states.. It means that the developers have not reviewed or tested the code properly yet in the development cycle; therefore not officially released for Beta Stage testing which is public... and Release Candidate usually means that the release has passed Beta testing OR Beta testing bugs have been addressed and is a candidate to become final.. so pretty much like a 'Last Call' before Official Release'. Since we don't or can't know the exact concerns or points that are being considered behind the scenes in the everyday work environment of the developers; it IMO is better to wait for the the Official tags and when not stated as such should not be named or considered as such... A lot can happen between the Dev system to compiling.. to the Beta testers system.. so it is something to be aware of is all.. I think it is a bit misleading.. non-exacting in its purpose..

To be exact as stating at the Dev section at Opera.com

I was thinking of giving this a try to get the Windows 7 features (Jump Lists, Aero interface, multiple tab previews), but in the feedback for this release I read:

operic # 17. January 2010, 20:06

this build destroyed my existing bookmarks from the previous build.

confirmations?

Same here. Fortunately nothing was irreplaceable.

My bookmarsk also seemed to be lost. Mut as usually I trust Opera and checked my profile folder - they are there in bookmarks.adr-file but it seems that now (10.5 series) Opera uses new format file called bookmarks.ini and now this convert doesn't work yet during installation. My result was that my over 1MB adr file is there and new bookmarks.ini is only 44kB and contains only fraction of my bookmarks.

But I could import my bookmarks with Manage bookmarks - File - Import Opera bookmarks and browsed my old profile folder where bookmarks.adr was. It imported successfully my 4500 bookmarks.

And with the other problems discussed, it just sounds a bit scary right now. :fear:

I've posted a new thread on it. But it's obvious as it's a pre-alpha. ;)

Beta/ Alpha versions of Opera do not upgrade older versions. Rather they create there own folders and profile, specifically for the pre-release versions.
