dufus Posted August 31, 2020 Share Posted August 31, 2020 A 69-year-old man in central Da Nang City succumbed to Covid-19 on Monday morning, becoming Vietnam's 33rd coronavirus fatality. The man was pronounced dead at the Da Nang Hospital for Lung Diseases due to severe pneumonia and respiratory failure caused by Covid-19, septic shock complications, multiple organ failure, and heart attack. He had suffered various underlying conditions, including heart failure, kidney failure, atrial fibrillation, and diabetes. Vietnam recorded its first Covid-19 death on July 31, with the victims aged between 28 and 93. Most fatalities also suffered chronic comorbidities such as diabetes, heart failure, and kidney failure. The country has reported 1,040 Covid-19 cases so far, 309 still active. "Patient 1040," a 55-year-old man in Da Nang, died just hours before his test results returned positive for the novel coronavirus Friday and was thus not counted as a Covid-19 death. He had several underlying conditions, including diabetes and muscle weakness caused by the Guillain–Barré syndrome.
