Karlston
Dropbox is working on a new Windows 10 app A new Windows 10 app for the Dropbox cloud storage service has been discovered in the Microsoft Store. The app lets you keep your files synchronized, make a PC backup, keep track of all your account activities and much more. The app appears to be the same as the one which can be downloaded directly from Dropbox, but now available in the Store, but requires Windows 10 Build 20197 or higher, so is currently only available to Insiders. However according to the description, this is currently a private beta release, and the company may be working on further developments to the apps: Dropbox brings your cloud content and traditional files together with the tools you love—so you can be organized, stay focused, and get in sync with your team. With all your files organized in one central place, you can safely sync them across all your devices and access them anytime, anywhere. Please note this is a private beta release. Stay tuned for open beta. via WalkingCat, WBI Dropbox is working on a new Windows 10 app
BimBamSmash
Haven't used Dropbox in years. Upon seeing this news, I checked their website to see how things (might) have changed over the years, and noticed they are still offering only 2GB of storage on their free tier. With all the alternatives out in the wilds - some of which offer much, much larger storage to free users - I wonder how this is working out for Dropbox - business-wise. x3r0
Their storage is small indeed, but they offer historical view of the files - almost like Git. I think that's why they keep offering very limited storage in free tier. The only competition that has similar feature that I know is OneDrive - they offer just a big bigger, starting at 5 GB. BimBamSmash
Long-time OneDrive users who have been keeping up with the news likely have more than that 5 GB. Back when MS were newcomers to this game (and their cloud storage service was called SkyDrive), there were all kinds of promotions that'd reward users with free extra storage. I don't remember how much in total one could obtain through those but I snagged me some 30 GB of free storage. And it is still there. (touch wood) If I am not mistaking, at some point people started abusing these free tiers and this forced MS to walk back from their promotion and roll back all the rewards. Though they did leave an option for a limited time - buried deep in their systems - that would let people keep the rewards. Was easy to miss by the average user though.
