Bizarre™
Good thing M$ didn't go back on their word in supporting XP SP3 until 2014.
Administrator DKT27 Posted January 12, 2010 Administrator Share Posted January 12, 2010 If anyone wants you can download the update to XP SP3 from here - Microsoft XP SP3 Download PageAlthough backup is recommended, there is no need for it. As SP3 is just a package full of fixes.I've updated to SP3 myself a few months ago, just click on the installer and it will do the work for you. Restart and done. ;)If you want a CD update version you can get the ISO from here. But ISO is bigger in size, 544.9 MB in oppose to 316.4 MB of exe. ;)Please note: You will need any version of XP to be installed in your computer. ;)

Administrator DKT27 Posted January 13, 2010 Administrator Share Posted January 13, 2010 Yeah and so foolish of me not trying it for many years. :PBut I did feel that the rumors where right, I felt some slow down when I updated to SP3.
Bizarre™
@DKT27:You should probably install an already integrated SP3, not slipstreamed.

Night Owl
When I installed SP3 for XP, it definitely felt as though my PC was faster than with SP2.
Bizarre™
@DKT27:Did you update using the EXE file or the ISO file?
Administrator DKT27 Posted January 13, 2010 Administrator Share Posted January 13, 2010 I think both are the same as both need any of the previous version installed. But yea I did it with .exe. I was guided by Leetpirate all the way.
Bizarre™
@DKT27:It's much better to install XP SP3 with the ISO.
naebudy
@Night OwlWhen I installed SP3 for XP, it definitely felt as though my PC was faster than with SP2.XP was a lot faster but unfortunately a lot more insecure without any service packs installed, but yes it definitely slowed down going from SP2 to SP3.@DKT27Please note: You will need any version of XP to be installed in your computer.Any version of XP with SP1a or SP2 already installed.kb322389To install Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), either Windows XP Service Pack 1a (SP1a) or Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) must already be installed. Administrator DKT27 Posted January 17, 2010 Administrator Share Posted January 17, 2010 Hmm I was confused the way it was written on the download page. Thanx. :)
Bizarre™
@DKT27:There's no need to get SP1, SP2, or anything else if you download the complete SP3 ISO.After the download, all you need to do is burn the ISO with Nero (or any program) to CD.If you're in doubt with the ISO, mount it in VirtualBox and simulate the entire installation.
