Microsoft releases Edge 85 to the Beta channel with new features

Last week, Microsoft published its release schedule for its new Edge browser, and as promised, it released Edge 85 to the Beta channel today. As you'd expect from a major feature update, it comes packed with a bunch of new features.

First of all, Send to OneNote is now available for Collections. That's exactly what it sounds like, allowing you to import your Collections into OneNote where they can be used for something else, or you can just keep them in OneNote if that's where you want to store them.

Another new feature that everyone can make use of is the PDF highlighter tool. This adds to Edge's already impressive (compared to other web browsers) PDF editing capabilities, which allow you to mark up documents.

There's plenty more too. There's a new Storage Access API that allows sites to ask permission to access the device's storage. There are DevTools improvements, including support for the Surface Duo emulator, and there are also IE Mode enhancements.

You can expect Edge 85 to sit in the Beta channel for another four weeks, and it will be replaced by Edge 86 in six weeks. Edge 86 is already being tested in the Dev channel.
