flash13
Astronaut Jessica Meir posts photos, memories of Boston from space station BOSTON — Flying about 254 miles above Boston aboard the International Space Station, NASA astronaut Jessica Meir posted breathtaking photos of "The Hub." In a tweet posted Thursday evening, the Maine native shared shout-outs to the Boston institutions where she worked before launching her career as an astronaut. She also shared happy birthday wishes for her sister, a Boston-area resident. Meir made history when she and fellow astronaut Christina Koch took part in the first all-female spacewalk in October. "It's really interesting for us," Meir said about the historic spacewalk, which also happened to be her first. "This is just us doing our job. We've been training for six years, so it's coming up here and doing our job. At the same time, we recognize that it is a historic achievement and we want to give credit to the women who came before us. We have followed in their footsteps to get where are today."
