Administrator DKT27 Posted December 15, 2009 Administrator Share Posted December 15, 2009 Hmm. How much space does the AV modules take?
Bizarre™
@DKT27:The AV module, along with its signatures, takes up to ~70MB.If you're using the AV module, over time, it can take up to ~200MB.
Administrator DKT27 Posted December 16, 2009 Administrator Share Posted December 16, 2009 What that's a lot of space. Tell me what can I do or how can I remove them.
Night Owl
Uncheck the Antivirus component in the Comodo Internet Security installer.
Administrator DKT27 Posted December 16, 2009 Administrator Share Posted December 16, 2009 Nah. I already do that. What Biz has mentioned is that Comodo installs the AV components even when we dont need it. They feel we will need it in future of course.
Bizarre™
@Night Owl:Like I said...CIS has a bad habit of including AV files even if the user does not want it included.
Night Owl
@DKT27 and Bizarre:What I said is all anyone can really do. Deleting individual files such as cavscan.exe and cavscan.dll would save only a few MBs of hard drive space, but it might mess up your Comodo Firewall and/or Comodo Defense+. Bizarre™
@Night Owl:It does not mess up COMODO if you know what you're doing.

So in the "COMODO Internet Security" folder:- delete the "scanners" folder to save 8.52 MB- delete the "translations" folder to save 5.20 MB- delete HopSurf.exe to save 3.47 MB- delete cfp.chinese.chm to save 4.52 MB- delete cfp.russian.chm to save 5.14 MB- delete cavshell.dll to save 351 KB- delete cavscan.dll to save 81.7 KB- delete cavscan.exe to save 3.50 MB- delete inspect.cat to save 7.40 KB- delete inspect.inf to save 2.67 KB- delete inspect.sys to save 82.1 KBTotal saving in "COMODO Internet Security" folder: 30.9 MBNow in the "COMODO Internet Security\repair" folder:- delete cavshell.dll to save 351 KB- delete cavscan.dll to save 81.7 KB- delete cavscan.exe to save 3.50 MB- delete dosmz.cav to save 9.76 KB- delete first.cav to save 17.7 KB- delete pe32.cav to save 10.7 KB- delete gunpack.cav to save 295 KB- delete heur.cav to save 127 KB- delete unarch.cav to save 532 KB- delete unpack.cav to save 744 KB- delete white.cav to save 15.7 KB- delete pkann.dll to save 280 KB- delete mach32.dll to save 1.61 MB- delete bases.cav to save 4.43 MB- delete common.cav to save 11.2 KB- delete inspect.cat to save 7.40 KB- delete inspect.inf to save 2.67 KB- but keep inspect.sysTotal savings in "COMODO Internet Security\repair" folder: 11.9 MBBy the way, I don't have a fourth cfp file like you do. But I do have an extra file called guard64.dll (in addition to guard32.dll) because I have the 64-bit version. So the grand total is that 42.8 MB of disk space will be saved.
