Night Owl
Wow, how did I miss this article until now? Thanks for the post.Yeah, with a fresh install of Windows 7 I noticed that UAC was not warning me for things that Vista always warned me about. For example, when running Device Manager I would always get a UAC prompt with Vista, but not with Windows 7. Windows 7 default is "Notifiy me only when programs try to make changes to my computer" which is the second-highest level. I moved this to the highest level "Always notify" so now my Windows 7 acts like Windows Vista. The other two levels are:- third-highest level: "Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer (do not dim my desktop)"- lowest level: "Never notify"
