Your Phone PC app now uses your phone's background image as its own for some users

Microsoft’s Your Phone app is a major part of the firm’s cross-platform strategy. The app began letting users view their most recent images in the phone right from the app on the desktop and allowed users to directly drag and drop images off the phone to the PC. However, the app slowly began receiving more features such as the ability to send SMS/MMS messages, notification sync, screen mirroring for select devices, and the ability to make phone calls right from the desktop. Pen input too is in the works.

 

However, there are smaller pleasant touches in the app such as the phone icon on the app displaying the current background image of the phone right within the icon. Now, an update to the app announced via Twitter further enhances its aesthetics by using that very background image for the left navigation pane, although with a touch of the Fluent Design system's acrylic blur.

 

 

The update is rolling out to 50% of users in the Windows Insider Program. While the addition of an image to the left pane is similar to other apps that use the ‘Fluent Design’ language and isn’t a big deal, it is a nice touch to the overall look and feel of the UI. Since the update is fairly minor, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it roll out to the wider audience in the near future.

 

The Redmond giant is beginning to work with partners to tighten the integration between users’ phones and Windows 10 PCs. With the firm looking to launch its own dual-screened Android device later this year, we are bound to see more features and capabilities come to the app to make using other devices with a PC seamless.
