steven36
SAN FRANCISCO — Big tech companies like Facebook Inc. and Alphabet Inc.’s Google, long seen as some of the world’s most desirable workplaces offering countless perks and employee benefits, are losing some of their shine. The Silicon Valley companies dropped out of the Top 10 “best places to work” in the United States, according to Glassdoor’s annual rankings released Tuesday. HubSpot Inc., a cloud-computing software company, grabbed the No. 1 ranking while tech firms DocuSign Inc. and Ultimate Software were three and eight, respectively. On Long Island, Bethpage Federal Credit Union was the only company to make Glassdoor's 2020 list of the Best Places to Work among small and medium-sized employers. The local credit union ranked No. 23 of 50 in Glassdoor's ranking. “Our corporate culture promotes inclusion, engagement and growth, and so developing and fostering a positive work environment for our employees is a top priority for Bethpage,” Wayne N. Grossé, president and chief executive of Bethpage Federal Credit Union, said in a statement. “We know that our employees are our greatest resource and we are as committed to them as we are to our members.” With 720 employees, Bethpage runs employee clubs, lunch-and-learns, wellness engagement activities, and training and development programs. Its “Bright Ideas” portal invites employees to submit ideas for top executives to read and evaluate. Benefits include tuition reimbursement, gym reimbursement and a pet discount care program. In 2019, Bethpage was also honored with three other awards based on employee feedback. The company was named a Top Long Island Workplace by Newsday, ranking #2 among large companies based on an independent survey of employee engagement. Bethpage was also recognized as the third Best Company to Work for in New York State in 2019 by the New York State Society for Human Resources Management, and Grossé was also recognized by Glassdoor, as one of the country’s Top CEOs among small and medium sized businesses. Among large companies, Facebook, which has been rated as the “best place to work” three times in the past 10 years, was ranked 23rd, down from seventh last year. It’s the social-media company’s lowest position since it first made the list in 2011 as the top-rated workplace. Google, voted “best place to work” in 2015 and a Top-10 finisher the previous eight years, came in at No. 11 on Glassdoor’s list. Apple Inc., once a consistent Top-25 finisher, was ranked 84th. Amazon Inc., which has never been known for a positive internal culture, failed to make the list for the 12th straight year. Microsoft Corp. was one of the lone big technology companies to jump in the rankings. The Redmond, Washington-based software company moved to No. 21 from 34 a year ago. The annual list ranks companies using employee reviews on areas such as compensation, benefits, culture and senior management. Many of the big tech companies, including Facebook and Google, have been criticized this year for myriad issues, and in some cases employees have publicly opposed executive decisions. mp68terr
Interesting! In some countries (maybe USA too, I don't know) working for these big and famous tech companies usually means an improvement in the social position, with several benefits. Regarding the ranking itself, not being in the top 10 of the “best places to work” does not mean being in a 'bad place to work'.

It means less people who are qualified to hold such positions most likely will choose some company not in the News to work. When it in the media the way they treat there employees all the bad press make those jobs less wanted . Just because these places pay well dont make them good places to work ether . I find if were you work for dont have a union the more you make the worse you are treated . Google and Facebook pay good but there are some places that pay more than them and some places pay less. social position dont come from witch company you work for no way at the end of the day it's how much money you take home and are worth . If you just sweep the floors at Google your just a janitor and many people who work from them are temporary and dont have full employee benefits . Out of the top 10 places that pay good , There is more job openings at Facebook , Google and Microsoft because most Jobs are already took at the others because there better places to work Were i live there is no Google or Facebook and people dont quit the good jobs around here you can go to collage and you will have to move away if you want a job you majored in , because the good jobs are already took. People are not always stepping down like they do at these big Tech outfits . Also many people are moving away from were Google and Facebook are just because the big wigs get paid well dont mean everyone do and can afford housing because when Big Tech comes in the cost living goes way up and many people leave , Quote Millennials in particular — are moving away from big cities like San Francisco and New York City because of skyrocketing housing cost The fastest growing City in the USA is Boise, Idaho now because it's cheaper to live there. Yes, right, there is a balance/choice to make between salary and living cost.

Google pay scale is not fair there not Union . Quote Average Google hourly pay ranges from approximately $13.00 per hour for Account Executive to $90.00 per hour for Release Engineer. https://www.indeed.com/cmp/Google/salaries How do you even live in San Francisco making 13 dollars a hour? Living Wage is $20.58 per hour for 1 person in San Francisco. Minimum wage is $11.00 per hour , Google pays some less than needed only way you could make it is be a couple and both of you make at lest $29.79 together or hold 2 jobs that combined make over $20.58. So many single people are leaving because you can go else were and not have to work 2 jobs to make ends meat. Now a big wig making $90 can live real good but it takes more than big wigs to run a company.
