Dear all,

I have one pc with 2tb hdd running win 10 and win 8.1in dual boot, yesterday win8.1 crashed abnormally with " The blue screen error prompt 'Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart'  "error code 0xc000021a. while trying to reinstall it the similar error came back and I with my uttermost idiocy accidentally deleted the whole hdd which have 6 partition. Now I can't even install any windows version on it , it showing that disgusting error your pc ran into problem with memory management. ( i tried win10 and win 8.1)

I need to recover those 2tb data which have my personal and professional documents, i have one spare 250 gb old hdd , can I use it to recover those 2tb data. Or i have to follow any other method,

Please help and guide me how I can recover those 2tb data. Please please i will be indebted forever .

You shouldn't write or delete or modify anything on that drive until all data saved. You need equal size or bigger drive for data recovery.

If you deleted the partitions but Windows installer didn't copy any files yet then most likely you can recover the partition table and all files.

As noted above, better not to write/delete/modify your 'broken drive'. Even if the files seem to have been deleted they are likely there, just not accessible.

Had a similar problem a couple of years ago. Recovered almost all important files by using testdisk (https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk, no log) to scan the 'broken' drive and to copy the files on a drive of similar size. The 250gb drive is likely too small to recover 2tb, except if your data is less than those 250gb. Anyway it cost nothing to try as long as the 'broken' drive remains untouched for now.

Testdisk can also recover the ntfs allocation table from its copy within the 'broken' drive, if still there and not altered.

you can try active file recovery deep scan to recover deleted files

if the deep scan haves completed you can recover all the deleted files (best at another drive)

Dear sir i have tried windows 8.1 and 10 installer on the Hdd, but failed with your system ran into problem, the hdd is now formatted into 2 big partition it has 5 partition before I need data of 3 partition which is out of 2tb  approx 1.5 tb data, can I run testdisk in 250 gb hdd and copy lost data from 2tb by part ! Likely by partition then I can copy to some other hdd or external HDD. Can I copy the required 1.5 tb data on 2tb disc itself if found , please guide

Hi,

Try (as it was already mentioned): TestDisk https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk

This is for lost partitions etc. Files can be also recovered using PhotoRec (same webpage) but please be informed that in this case files will be recovered with automatically generated names like f0001648.doc  where f0001648 is automatically generated, only extension and size is not changed...

Also once a time I used DDRescue within DDreascue GUI. It creates image of your drive which later you can explore. https://www.hamishmb.com/html/downloads.php?program_name=ddrescue-gui  it took about 8 hrs to create image of 250 GB HDD but later I recovered all data. Here you can see original filenames. Some of them can be just not readable if image creation had some errors.

Regards,

Marcin

I think its not the time for trying frustrating command line or boot apps, you can play with them later. Hard disk repair wont do much in recovering data, you can use it later on if you want.

FIRST you need to recover data from HDD, you should use file recovery softwares that can read lost partitions. There are many file recovery tools that can handle hard disks that are not visible in "my Computer" but visible in hard disk manager in Administrative tools in Control panel.

After scanning the disk to see what can be recovered, plan to buy a 2 or 3 TB external hard disk. You can recover what you need now in your 250GB drive, then take out your 2TB hard disk and store it in your closet till you get more space to make sure nothing is written on it.

After recovering is complete, you can go ahead and format your hard disk and start using it as normal.

After recovery, try to google your error, it seems that you may have a hardware issue. Maybe RAM Corruption, but I am not sure. There are apps that help test and troubleshoot your memory problem.

Dear @Marcus Thunder @Edgar.Elooo bro I have installed the easeus data recovery version 11after hdd regenator able to recover 95 % of my hdd, after 95% for 6 hours it did nothing until it stopped, I was not able to install ease us version 12 , after following every instructions from forums it became trial version with message you have entered pirated key, 😑

But the bright side is i am able to recover 200 gb of data  😆 from one 400 gb partition and another two to go and as you said I am waiting for more storage drive , hopefully I will able to find some and recover most essential data, i hope to sort out unnecessary data asap. Lots of respect and love to all members who spent their valuable time to help me.

I am glad for nsaneforums.com🙏💪

Yeah happened to me some time ago. I used O&O MediaRecovery 11 and it recovered almost everything. Probably because I noticed it quickly and didn't write anything to that disk. Nevertheless try it, it takes veeeeery long time, you might be able to recover something valuable but at the same time be prepared for a disappointment ;/

been there.. done that..

i formatted the wrong harddrive.. didn;t have the os on it though..

my fix was to use OOunformat i think it was called it was a OO app.. no other drive required.. it literally just unformats in place..

useful if format quick was used.. all data recovered.
