Iron includes other notable unique features. In contrast to Chrome, it implements the latest version of the WebKit rendering engine, and includes built-in ad blocking.

Is it added first time? Or was it already frontpaged before?

ANW Thanx. :)

I don't know but don't you wish SRWare would do something about their icon? I am currently tagging it with my Electroplated ( Executive Edition ) Chrome Icon..LOL.. Their icon has a lop-sided look to it I can't get over..

Plugins or extensions? The extensions are easy..easier than what I thought.. and I have yet to ever install a plugin for Chrome or Iron..Might have something to do with Google Gears..

I tried it today for the first time. It is actually really fast, so fast I was totally impressed. I think I will throw out Opera from my PC and use Iron instead :hehe:

Tried it. It's just another Chrome in looks.

I just tested all the browsers I have with speedtest.net. And here are the results for me -

Firefox - 56.1 KB/s download and 25.1 KB/s upload. Ping 76 ms.

Chrome - 58.1 KB/s download and 25.5 KB/s upload. Ping 76 ms.

SRWare Iron - 58.6 KB/s download and 25.8 KB/s upload. Ping 65 ms. :o

Internet Explorer - 55.0 KB/s download and 25.4 KB/s upload. Ping 76 ms.

Opera - You need atleast Adobe Flash Player 8 installed on your computer !?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did these tests twice on the same browers and the resuts were same.

So Iron is indeed a touch faster than Chrome but I was shocked to see the ping time.

Thanks for frontpaging SRWare Iron. I really like how fast and stable it is and I use it a lot.

So SRWare Iron won in all three measurements — but it was significantly better in the ping time on both tests. Thanks for the results, DKT27.

DNS prefetching is disabled by default but you could enable it for a slight improvement in performance. I recommend to leave it disabled if you still use dial up because it prefetches many dns lookups and many of them you may not use in reality.

@Night Owl: You are welcome. Well I was gonna post the images of the test, but I thought it reveals my personal info. That I don't want to show.

That is why I like the 'Obscure' option in FastStone Capture.. Then I polish it off with WinSnap.. for important stuff.. Then when its a simple shot.. I use WinSnap and save the thumbnail..FastStone will let you do a scrolling screenshot of a page.. totally cool.. and does video..my main one.. always fall back on 'PrtScr' and 'Paint'.. but use WinSnap for its cool extras.. FastStone actually has the shadow options and a lot of extras as well..

Is very fast,(even faster than Google Chrome) but without integration with Internet Download Manager ---» pity...

Even so, I am going to use it, and Google Chrome is out.

SRWare 4.0.227 Beta is working OK for now and faster than v. 3.

Very good browser...

Thanks

Jofre

I installed it again yesterday... I used it a long time ago before, and it was buggy and slower than Chrome. But now, Iron feels a bit faster than Chrome tbh... It's of course a shame it isn't supported by IDM, I hope it will be.

I haven't actually integrated a DM for Safari or Iron yet. I have one that came with IE7Pro, and I use DTA for FF..Opera's is built-in..would be nice though..Safari's is more like IE's though..but if I am doing much downloading I use FF mostly anyway..

Free Download Manager 3.0.870 has "Google Chrome up to version 4.0 support". Unfortunately, it doesn't also support SRWare Iron. :(

Like heath28m, I predominantly use Firefox to download, especially since DKT27 told us about the excellent SkipScreen add-on for Firefox.

Anytime mate. I came to know about that addon from another friend and I'll be thankful forever to him :)

good addition..if its on the frontpage,it has to be cool :)

It's a super fast browser, excellent for use with netbooks and notebooks because it uses less cpu than Firefox and the rest which results in more battery runtime and less heat.

Let`s call attention to Internet Download Manager `s authors to this Super-Rapid Web Browser.

They must add an option to this browser too, sense Google Chrome and Apple Safari are included too.
