Epoch Times banned from advertising after sneaking pro-Trump propaganda onto Facebook

Facebook has banned conservative news site The Epoch Times from buying ads after it was discovered that the site was trying to avoid the company’s rules for transparency around political advertisements, according to a report from NBC News.

 

The Epoch Times previously spent $2 million on Facebook ads supporting President Trump and amplifying conspiracy theories, which is more than any other organization, save for the Trump campaign itself. After journalist Judd Legum noted back in July that many of The Epoch Times’ ads were in violation of Facebook’s policies, the outlet’s accounts were banned.

 

But it simply shifted strategies, creating sock puppet pages to run the ads instead. By not disclosing that The Epoch Times was behind the new ads, the company was again in violation of Facebook’s rules, resulting in the latest ban.

 

“Over the past year we removed accounts associated with the Epoch Times for violating our ad policies, including trying to get around our review systems,” a Facebook spokesperson commented to NBC News. “We acted on additional accounts today and they are no longer able to advertise with us.”

 

As an earlier NBC News report found, The Epoch Times is actually associated with Falun Gong, a Chinese religious group that seeks to tear down the Chinese government (the same group that runs the unavoidable Shen Yun dance troupe). The group apparently believes that Trump’s policies are key to that goal. In addition to supporting Trump through millions of dollars of problematic Facebook ads, the outlet also promotes QAnon-related conspiracy theories, anti-vaccination propaganda, and other extreme content.

 How come hate ads about Trump do not violate Facebook policies as well as pro life and gun rights issues?   Whenever happened to the 'First Amendment '?  These big media companies should not get away with selective censorship.

 

I say it is about time the government should declare Facebook & Google as Utilities.  This will enable these big media companies to be regulated.  Then they will not be able to get away with selective enforcement of their policies.

Site don't belong to the goverment , unless  they make laws like they did  to the TV industry  it won't ever be fair. If they dont remove ads then the mainstream media will bitch and it will blowup in there face and they will get sued again . So they lose no matter what they do . Do you think in reality they really want to lose that much ad revenue? It's the press and the left keep pushing these sites to remove stuff . They left never cared before tell Trump got in office that the mainstream media and the left hate . It went on the whole time Bush was in there and the whole time Obama was in there and they never cared tell they  lost the election when the polls said they was sure to win. That the reason those sites got so big they use to allow freedom of speech now they suppress speech because the media  , the left  in USA and other world governments  were laws are different than  the USA get them took to court and sued.

 

 

Besides i run and adblocker so i don't see ads and  the left don't even need ads  because  Google pushes the main stream news  that is mostly Anti Trump articles so they get there message across  without them.  You take the internet witch is lawless  all you see on Google is anti Trump news, but on cable Fox News  has been the most watched network in the USA for many years. .There a whole lot of talk but even fining  Facebook 5 billion dollars dont stop them from what they do only thing would help would  break them up or fine them like 500 Billion a pop.

 

Really i dont care what Facebook do on there platform because i don't belong to it and i dont even go there to read .They succeed  only because billions of people keep signing in to look at there ads . People like Trump and The Epoch Times did give Facebook the most money for ads a year . I like dont like Facebook i dont think  people should put ads on there platforms and soupprt there shitty spying site.  if everybody pulled them ads they would close shop or become a paid  site,  I don't belong to Twitter but i go there to read sometimes , I  belong to    reddit.com  but they so many trolls  on there i never sign in anymore i just go there and read .It's pretty bad  like last week they was talking about politics  in the Linux sub when i go there i want to read about Linux  and not read about politics , I'm not a political person only reason i post this because it's about Tech .Witch i like Tech a lot  i don't care for Big tech much anymore but i like Open source Tech a lot. So i'm sure not going to join if Trump starts having it policed  with his executive order. they going end up ruining the internet like they did the TV industry like when they put the FCC in charge of it.
