Microsoft Edge Stable leaks once again

Two weeks ago the first build of the Stable version of the new Microsoft Edge browser leaked, and today a new version has become available.

Unlike the Dev or Canary versions, the Stable version will actually replace the older EdgeHTML-powered browser with the Chromium version and the browser represents the final version Microsoft will eventually roll out to regular users.

The current leaked build is Build 77.0.235.9 and can be downloaded here. Be warned though that once installed there is no going back – the old Edge is gone for good.

Does the update mechanism work in this version? Interesting that M$ would use this to remove the old traditional edge vs let them work side by side, I guess only time will tell if this remains once it launches officially.

I can confirm that after installing the build that DiamondMon posted does in fact work and it will get rid of the classic Edge version, however, once you remove the Chromium Stable Version, the classic edge starts working again. Seems like more of a software switch vs a remove and replace.

I just received an email that Beta is now available.

Does this mean that Canary and Dev will not receive any more updates?

Do we have to update to Beta as linked to in the email?

They would continue to work the Dev and Canary builds just like how Google does it, use the link below to select your version,

I am running Dev.

I think I will wait until Sync is fully implemented before switching to Beta.

Still no Extension, History or Open Tabs sync yet.
