Karlston
DTS immersive audio is available on Windows 10 20H1 Support for DTS:X was just added to Windows 10 for Insiders, as promised by Microsoft back in January. DTS:X is an object-based audio codec, which aims to create a multi-dimensional sound that “moves around you like it would in real life”. The DTS Sound Unbound app is now available for download on Windows 10 20H1 devices. The app cannot be installed if you have the Windows 10 May 2019 update or older, but Microsoft says that the feature will reach everyone once it’s more stable. DTS is working with Microsoft to enable different sample rates, and offer a “truly immersive audio” experience. A representative from DTS Inc reported that the changes will be revealed to the public soon. To provide some context, we have been working closely with Microsoft for the past year to make the most of their Spatial sound framework. There are one or two changes that they’re making to the OS to make our product better. These are currently being tested in Insider, and once the Microsoft changes are published, we’ll go to the public release Source: DTS immersive audio is available on Windows 10 20H1 (MSPoweruser)
