Matrix
Bottom line: Despite its very long list of controversies, Facebook is still able to boast over 2.38 billion monthly active users worldwide—a figure that continues to increase, albeit at a slower pace than we’ve seen in the past. But it appears that the social network doesn’t have the coolest of reputations amongst young people, who are abandoning it for other platforms. A survey carried out by Business Insider alongside SurveyMonkey Audience partner Cint questioned 1,884 Americans aged 13 to 21 to discover the social media use of Generation Z (those born after 1996). When asked which platforms they previously used but don’t anymore, Facebook came out top, with 30 percent saying they’ve walked away from Mark Zuckerberg’s product. This was closely followed by messaging service KiK (29.7 percent), then Skype (24.6 percent), Twitter (21 percent), and Instagram (20.3 percent). Participants were also asked which platforms they check on a daily basis. While Facebook might be losing younger people, it seems plenty are still using Instagram, which it owns. The photo- and video-sharing network was first with 64.59 percent of votes, with YouTube second (62.48 percent) and Snapchat third (51.31 percent). The survey paints an overall picture of Generation Z preferring Snapchat, YouTube, and Instagram over Facebook. Only 9.3 percent said they no longer used YouTube, while just over 18 percent have left Snapchat. The results align with a survey from 2017, which showed that Facebook users in the 12 to 17 age group were set to decline for a second year, while a study from March revealed the company was losing US teens and millennials at a rapid pace. lolsee2
It's not hard to work out why - their algorithms or "ai" think they know what I want to see so suggest stuff that is completely irrelevant. They try to "curate" my life, even when clicking "most recent". They're not giving me a chance to see the things I might now like and are using information about who I was months or years ago to make decisions for me. I now see little of relevance in my feed and I can't be bothered to go and find it. AI is a false promise. It's backwards looking and makes too many assumptions. steven36
They just trading one evil for another , Really Snapchat is full of filth and women who strip nude for money so how is teenagers going there healthy? And YouTube is not really a social media platform its a streaming platform owned by Google witch is just as bad as Facebook and Instagram is owned by Facebook so that's a oxymoron but at lest they have morals and don't allow women to sell sex on cam and images like Snapchat and Twitter do .. Porn should be on adult only sites it should never been allowed on social media to begin with . 18 and 19 year olds selling there body on cam to go to school its really sad what society has become . trends change before Facebook and Instagram everyone used other platforms . if History keeps repeating itself no Tech company will stay on top very long. All these platforms you see in the news didn't have many users not so many years ago and they took the old ones place. 10 Old Instant Messaging Services That Used to Be Popular https://www.lifewire.com/once-popular-old-instant-messaging-services-3486135 Facebook started out as a college site they only allowed Harvard students it was not tell 2006 it became public now all there users have got old and teens don't want to go there but the cycle will keep repeating itself. Google and Facebook both came close to being dissolved into Yahoo , They could of bought Google for 1 million and then Facebook for 1 billion and decided against it . Bad decisions killed Yahoo and now they owned by a company who don't want to invest in anything that's not mobile anymore. Same thing will happen to Google and Facebook in the end bad decisions like not buying out sites like snapchat so they don't become a problem to them.
