May 2019 Update on just over 6 percent of Windows 10 PCs, AdDuplex says

The Windows 10 May 2019 Update has been out for a little over a month now, and it's already starting to make a small dent. According to the latest report from AdDuplex, the May 2019 Update now commands a 6.3 percent share of Windows 10 PCs. That's up from the 1.4 percent share it held last month after it had only been available for a week.

 

According to AdDuplex's previously released numbers, this puts the May 2019 Update at about the same pace of that we saw with the October 2018 Update. Notably, the October 2018 Update encountered several major issues after its launch, causing it to undergo a much slower rollout than its predecessors. The May 2019 Update hasn't experienced similarly large issues, so it appears Microsoft is taking a slower approach out of caution, if AdDuplex's numbers are reflective of Windows 10 PCs as a whole.

 

Moving on to the rest of the Windows 10 ecosystem, the October 2018 Update is at an even 30 percent share, down slightly from last month. The April 2018 Update is also down, though it still holds a commanding 58 percent share of Windows 10 PCs. The Fall Creators Update holds on to a 2.5 percent share, while PCs on the Creators Update and older are now sitting at a combined 2.9 percent.

 

Remember that AdDuplex's data is based on a sampling of 5,000 apps that use its SDK, so real-world figures will likely differ. However, the monthly report is a handy tool for tracking general trends. The latest numbers were collected throughout the day of June 26.

AdDuplex: Windows 10 May 2019 Update is off to a slow start

 

AdDuplex has published their report for June, revealing how well various versions of Windows 10 are scoring. The report has brought bad news for the latest Windows 10 May  2019 update.

 

 

As you can see in the above image, Windows 10 April 2018 Update(1803) is still on top with 58 percent of usage share, down from 61.1 percent. Windows 10 October 2018 Update sits right next to the April 2018 with 30 percent share, down from 31.3 percent last month. Surprisingly, recently released Windows 10 May 2019 Update is not off to a good start, frankly, its performance is quite similar to how October 2018 Update performed. The May 2019 Update, with a gain of only 5 percent stands at 6.3 percent, and if you recall, the figure matches with that of the October 2018 Update after a month of its release.

 

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and holds 2.5 percent share, while the Windows 10 Creators and older version combined holds only 2.9 percent.

 

 

The slow adoption rate of Windows 10 May 2019 Update is may be due to the fact that Microsoft has been very cautious with the update roll-out especially after the October 2018 Update fiasco. As a result, many users even with decent hardware didn’t receive the update to this date.

 

Nevertheless, it’d be interesting to see whether the Windows 10 May 2019 Update is able to pick up the speed it needs to make it to the top beating April 2018 Update.
