Matrix
Following several serious data breaches and controversies in the tech industry over the past couple years, one of the biggest data collection giants out there -- Google -- has been forced to walk on eggshells. Perhaps as an attempt to avoid any future controversies, the company has proactively begun to offer its customers much more control over how their data is used -- you can control what Google services are allowed to harvest your information or even delete stored data entirely. However, what if you're okay with Google collecting some of your data for the sake of using its services, but you aren't a huge fan of letting the tech giant retain said data forever? In May, Google addressed that dilemma by offering its users a toggle that, when switched on, can automatically delete your web and app activity data every three or 18 months. That tool was pretty handy for anyone who tends to forget to clear their data regularly, and now it's being expanded to cover location history as well. "Auto-delete controls for Location History start rolling out today on Android and iOS, making it even easier for you to manage your data," Google announced in a tweet. Accessing these new controls is fairly easy. Just open up your Google Account settings on a mobile device and open up the privacy section -- these new tools should be visible today, or in the near future, depending on how quickly Google rolls them out. steven36
Well isn't this sweet , if they din't collect data in the 1st place to make ads they wouldn't have to do all this in 3 mouths to 18 months is time to do a lot of damage , open source phones not by Google cant get here soon enough . The NSA is not allowed to collect USA phone data why should Big Tech be allowed to do it? If they didn't do this they would not be facing as much Anti Trust law suits in the USA and EU , etc. The TV industry made advertisements since 1941 without collecting data so there is no excuse for it , they need to figure out a better way do it, like doing surveys are something instead . All this crap with Google and Facebook doing it caused other data collecting services to popup that sell your data to politicians. movie stars and music artist . They sell to anyone and when they get caught they get ran out of business but they let Big Tech continue doing it because they share your Data with Law Enforcement. Just because you delete it don't mean Google still don't have it. You cant see what they do with copies of your data , if the Feds are watching you and have a hold on your data it will go no were and that's a fact. Before Google said you can mange your data but they still tracking you regardless of what marketing stunt they make up. They can't be trusted, trust is something that has to earned they can't just write a statement and expect people to trust them . And when it comes to company who is closed source and i can't see what they do i will never trust them. Even if you sell Ads as long as your open source and really transparent and have nothing to hide i'm fine with it. Fact is it not just your Location , They have your phone number and ip addresses , If you make and account with Google on PC you cant use another IP range but the one you signed up with without giving them your phone number , that's if your lucky enough to been able sign up without giving to them one in the 1st place . On Android if you use Google services they already have your phone number and location they know who you are and were you are even if you use a vpn . So you have a tracking device in your pocket . That's one of reason i hate using Windows only way you could fool them about who you are is if you hooked up a vpn to your router then most likely the can still can tell who you are, so i only boot up in windows every few months and use and open source OS 99.5 % of the time. I use Linux and can use M$ and Google services with open source apps with burner accounts i have with a vpn and they have no real data on me only fake info. But I hardly do they don't offer nothing much i would bother signing in for.
