KDE Plasma 5.16.2 Desktop Environment Released with More Than 30 Bug Fixes

KDE Plasma 5.16.2 released

The KDE Project released today the second maintenance update to the latest KDE Plasma 5.16 open-source desktop environment for Linux-based operating systems.

Coming just one week after the first point release, the KDE Plasma 5.16.2 maintenance update is here to add yet another layer of bug fixes with the ultimate goal to make the KDE Plasma 5.16 desktop environment more stable and reliable for users. In particular, this second point release introduces a total of 34 changesacross various core components and apps.

"Today KDE releases a bugfix update to KDE Plasma 5, versioned 5.16.2. Plasma 5.16 was released in June with many feature refinements and new modules to complete the desktop experience. This release adds a week's worth of new translations and fixes from KDE's contributors. The bugfixes are typically small but important," reads today's announcement.

Highlights of the KDE Plasma 5.16.2 point release include improved notification identification for Snap apps, improved minimum and pop-up size for the expanded version of the Plasma Calculator Add-on, support for the Kickoff menu and Dash to display Calculator and Unit Converter runners, as well as various other refinements to the new notifications system.KDE Plasma 5.16.3 scheduled for release on July 9thKDE Plasma 5.16 was released earlier this month and it's the latest and most advanced version of the open-source desktop environment for Linux-based operating systems. However, it's a standard release that will only receive five maintenance updates with bug fixes and improvements, the next one being KDE Plasma 5.16.3, scheduled for release on July 9th.

After that, two more such maintenance updates will be released, KDE Plasma 5.16.4 and KDE Plasma 5.16.5, expected on July 30th and September 3rd respectively. Until then, we recommend all users upgrading to the KDE Plasma 5.16.2 release as soon as the packages arrive in the stable software repositories of their favorite GNU/Linux distributions.
