I still haven't acquainted myself with all the features of Office '07 and '10 is on its way already... Sweet, lol, when '10 is out, I'm sure I won't even use/know over half of its features, which is fine, as I simply just type up papers, and rarely touch any other programs (Excel/Access/Publisher/PowerPoint/etc.)

But having seen a few videos of it, looks nice ^_^

Office 2010 beta goes public

25u39ug.jpg

Microsoft announced on Wednesday that the beta of Office 2010 is now publicly available from the company's Web site.

Among the features new to the beta is a social networking connector that allows users to bring in Windows Live and other social networking feeds into Outlook. LinkedIn is the first that will take advantage of it--early next year--but there is a software development kit for others to do so.

"I hope that you will all download it," Microsoft senior vice president Kurt DelBene said at Microsoft's Professional Developers Conference here.

Microsoft has posted an article noting that Office Mobile 2010 is also in beta and available for Windows Mobile 6.5 phones via the Windows Mobile Marketplace.

The public beta also includes the ability for businesses to start testing the browser-based Office Web Apps within their enterprises. The beta versions, unlike the technology preview of the Web Apps includes editing in Word as well as the OneNote Web app.

The consumer version of the Web apps, however, remains in technology preview in Windows Live. There's no specific timeframe for when the Office Web Apps will hit Windows Live.

Office 2010 is due out in final form in the first half of next year.

We are very excited to announce the official release of the Microsoft Office 2010 Click-to-Run Beta (build 4536.1000), is now available at http://connect.microsoft.com/office.

IMPORTANT: There is no upgrade path between the Technical Preview and Beta product releases.

This Beta release is NOT upgradeable from the Technical Preview release. You will be required to completely uninstall the current version of your product on the machine. We strongly advise that you backup all of your data files, before you uninstall the Office 2010 Click-to-Run Technical Preview release.

You MUST uninstall the Technical Preview Release before installing the Beta Release. In the Control Panel, under Programs, select the option to Uninstall a program.

Uninstall the following programs:

Microsoft Office Home and Business (English) 2010

Microsoft Office Virtualization (English) 14

Please Read before installing Office 2010 Click-to-Run.

So wait is this an update the 4536 build? or just something new.. because my Bet from the site I last installed was 4536 not 4622

Read the post good :P

You'll find the info you need here:

http://blogs.technet.com/office2010/archive/2009/11/06/click-to-run-delivering-office-in-the-21st-century.aspx

1. It’s fast. Home users can stream Office and be running their apps in as little as 90 seconds (under 5 minutes on average), or about 10% of the time it would take otherwise. The products still run locally utilizing the PC’s resources, they don’t “run in the cloud”.

2. With Click-to-Run, it’s easier to always be running the latest and most secure version of Office. Click-to-Run users get the latest bits right away (rather than old bits that need to be patched immediately, which can take another 60 minutes over the internet). Click-to-Run users also get updated automatically over time, with no need to download or install patches. The product seamlessly updates itself in the background.

3. It’s low impact, and co-exists with other software on the machine. Click-to-Run products are virtualized, so they don’t conflict with other software. For instance, users can run Office 2007 for their production scenarios while they evaluate a trial of Office 2010. This addresses a major user pain point.

@Haantjuh: The code for your x64 torrent got truncated. The code should read:

/files/333223903/MICROSOFT.OFFICE.2010.BETA.2.BUILD.14.0.4730.1007.X64.VOLUME.ENGLISH-WZT.torrent

I've been trying for at least 30 minutes to download these tiny .torrent files, but RapidShi_, er RapidShare is not being kind to its free users yet again.

Is this not coming through the update yet?

14.0.4514.1004 (5 November 2009 digital signature) is still available officially from Microsoft's download pages.
