Passport Prices

I'm trying to tie up some odds and ends here at the weekend, and suddenly remembered that I need a new passport. Well... thinking about going on holiday this Summer, I'll need one of those methinks!!

So just as I'm about to fill in this application pack, which might I add weighs about the same as a small novel I realise the price documentation is missing. I then find a notice telling me to visit http://www.passport.gov.uk/ for the latest prices as they're subject to change. So off I go.

I nearly fell off my chair. £51.00 !!!! What the hell has happened since I last purchased one years ago for around half this amount? I can't believe it.

when i got my passport, 4-5 years ago now, it was only like $25 :\

usa passport went up a lot afterwards. (congress raise the price for the extra background security check crap) also if you want the passport quickly in 2 weeks or less that cost extra too. plus the photo cost money.
