The AchieVer
Microsoft Releases Windows 10 Cumulative Updates KB4503293, KB4503327, KB4503286 Microsoft has just released a new set of cumulative updates for Windows 10 devices, as the company kicked off the June 2019 Patch Tuesday cycle. While installing cumulative updates is typically a risky thing to do because they often break down things or fail to install, today’s release is particularly important because it happens on Patch Tuesday. In other words, the Windows 10 cumulative updates rolling out right now include fixes for security vulnerabilities in Microsoft’s operating system, so by installing them, users can make sure they are fully protected against any exploits. At the time of writing this article, however, there are no reports of failed installs, but the release has just started, so it remains to be seen if the experience with these cumulative updates is flawless or not. What’s important to know is that all Windows 10 versions are getting cumulative updates, albeit devices running Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and older are no longer serviced on Home and Pro SKUs. These versions have already reached the end-of-support, so unless they are part of the LTSC or run Windows 10 Enterprise or Education, no updates would be offered on Windows Update. Hello, Windows 10 May 2019 Update! This is also the first month when systems running Windows 10 May 2019 Update, or version 1903, get a cumulative update on Patch Tuesday. The May update was published last month and is now in the process of being shipped to more devices. The June 2019 (Patch Tuesday) cumulative updates are the following: Windows 10 May 2019 Update (version 1903): KB4503293 (OS Build 18362.175) Windows 10 October 2019 Update (version 1809): KB4503327 (OS Build 17763.557) Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803): KB4503286 (OS Build 17134.829) Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709): KB4503284 (OS Build 16299.1217) The updates are available from Windows Update and the Update Catalog, and users are recommended to create a backup before installing them. Karlston
@The AchieVer If you make consecutive posts in a topic, it’s possible if posted too soon, for the second post to be appended to the first. Need to wait a few minutes (5?) between consecutive posts. Been caught too by that one a few times The fix is to wait the few minutes and then edit the post and use cut/paste to split off the second’s content into a new reply. The AchieVer
What’s New in Windows 10 Cumulative Update KB4503293 for Version 1903 Microsoft has released the second cumulative update for Windows 10 version 1903, or the May 2019 Update, but this time the focus is specifically on security improvements. Cumulative update KB4503293 increases the OS build number to 18362.175. The previous update was published on May 29 as KB4497935 and it included only non-security fixes. As it typically happens on a Patch Tuesday, the update resolves security bugs in Windows 10 and the other built-in components, like browsers (both Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge receive updates this month), Windows Media, Windows Shell, Windows Authentication, and the Microsoft Scripting Engine. Additionally, Microsoft resolves an issue affecting the connections established between Windows and Bluetooth devices. The company explains the following in the release notes of the update: “Addresses a security vulnerability by intentionally preventing connections between Windows and Bluetooth devices that are not secure and use well-known keys to encrypt connections, including security fobs. If BTHUSB Event 22 in the Event Viewer states, “Your Bluetooth device attempted to establish a debug connection….”, then your system is affected. Contact your Bluetooth device manufacturer to determine if a device update exists. For more information, see CVE-2019-2102 and KB4507623.”One known issueThe update comes with just one known issue that breaks down Windows Sandbox. Introduced in Windows 10 May 2019 Update, Windows Sandbox is a feature that allows users to run apps in a secure environment, much like a traditional virtual machine. After installing cumulative update KB4503293, launching Windows Sandbox could fail with error "ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND (0x80070002)" if the language is changed during the update process. The software giant says it’s already working on a workaround, and it should be shipped in a future cumulative update. There are no reports of failed installs so far, so KB4503293 likely brings a flawless experience to the majority of Windows 10 May 2019 Update users. BimBamSmash
Looks like with this update, Night Light is once again functioning as expected. This feature had stopped working for me in the earlier 1903 builds.
