The AchieVer
Microsoft’s iPhone Email Client Will Soon Get Shared Mailbox Support Microsoft Outlook improves at a really fast pace, and more recently, the software giant started testing a new feature that would really come in handy for large organizations. Shared Mailboxes, a feature that’s already available in the desktop version of Outlook, will land in the iOS version of Outlook, and Microsoft says this feature is now in TestFlight for those who want to give it a try. Android devices will get the same feature very soon, Microsoft says, albeit specifics aren’t yet available. As for what’s a shared mailbox, the feature allows groups to use the same email alias when sending emails. Microsoft provides a thorough description of shared mailbox: “A shared mailbox makes it easy for a group of people to monitor and send email from a public email alias like [email protected]. When a person in the group replies to a message sent to the shared mailbox, the email appears to be from the shared address, not from the individual user. You can also use the shared mailbox as a shared team calendar. A shared mailbox is not designed for direct log on though. The user account for the shared mailbox itself should stay in disabled state.”More improvements on the wayFurthermore, Microsoft’s Head of the Outlook for iOS team, Michael Palermiti, says additional features are also coming, including delete support. Regarding multiple Intune-managed Outlook 365 accounts, Tali Roth, also part of the Outlook team at Microsoft, says this is something that’s not supported just yet. “I'm guessing the question is around multiple Intune-managed O365 accounts, which we don't support. We've heard the feedback from a number of users and would love to address this but it's fairly complex across Intune / AAD / Outlook. Please keep the pressure on though!” she posted. You can try out the new shared mailbox support on an iPhone by entering the TestFlight beta program on iOS. Source
