Huawei reportedly scales back phone production following US ban

It might be preparing itself for a long slog.

Huawei may be expecting to live with a US ban for a long time. South China Morning Post sources claim Foxconn has stopped Huawei phone production on "several" lines in response to reduced orders. It wasn't certain if this was a short- or long-term cut, but it came just months after Huawei's growing demand reportedly prompted Foxconn to go on a hiring spree.

Foxconn declined to comment, and Huawei hadn't initially responded to requests for comment.

Provided the report is accurate, it would signal an abrupt end to Huawei's runaway growth. Not that the company might have much choice when US companies can't work with the firm unless they have explicit permission. Without official Android support (and thus official Google apps) or the backing of hardware partners like Qualcomm, Huawei's phones won't be as appealing outside of China. So long as the US ban lasts a significant amount of time, Huawei has to either dial back expectations or risk ending up with loads of unsold stock.

Well most all the OS  ran outside of China are made by Americans . I don't really use  any closed source OS  any more  I stay in Linux 98% of the time so i don't think it's remarkable ether  a phone with Linux would suit me fine . If  the government want allow Google , Microsoft  ,etc let them use there stuff there is nothing they can do about it really . You always have a choice to buy it anyway with what ever they decide  to put on it. Only thing is going hurt big Tech is a consumer backlash but as long as the end user  keeps there  :moon:stuck in there ecosystem nothing is going to change . People be on Windows , Apple OSes  and Android  have no right to complain because they all sold out to big tech USA!:lmao:

Edit: Samsung are  working on bringing full linux to the smartphone there program is in beta   Others are selling phones  with Linux .Some big names like Ubuntu and Microsoft  failed when they try to bring the desktop to a phone. But the only thing that will break people from using devices with  OS from Big Tech is for big companies to sell them with other OSes  .  98% of users are going to use what OS that comes preinstalled on there phone ,tablet  or pc.

The problem is Big tech USA controls  the people outside of China's  interest and they also control the Phone vendors that sell phones outside of China  . When the EU came up against Google  they said alright have it your way but your going to pay us if you want to fork Android for anything  we have if you want to use it  but if you use the pure Google version Android  is 100 %  free to vendors but the end user pays for it with there data .So the phone vendors get rich , Google gets rich and users get spied on  and  every one is happy but the privacy nuts .  :hehe: I doubt the USA Anti Trust case will go any better last time Google's lawyers got it dismissed  for lack of evidence before they could  even get started.  . ;)
