The AchieVer
Microsoft release fix for Windows 10 May 2019 Update with Cumulative Update Build 18362.145 A week ago Microsoft rolled out KB4497935 to Windows 10 Insiders in the Slow and Release Preview rings to test a fix for a number of 1903 issues, including the USB Drive letter issue which has been blocking updates for any PC with a USB Drive or SD card installed. Besides the removable drive issue, Microsoft still has a long list of bugs and issues to address, and KB4497935 brings the following changelog: Addresses an issue that may prevent Custom URI Schemes for Application Protocol handlers from starting the corresponding application for local intranet and trusted sites on Internet Explorer. Addresses an issue that prevents certain apps from launching when you set folder redirection for the Roaming AppData folder to a network path. Addresses an issue that my turn off Night light mode during display mode changes. Addresses an issue that may distort the rendering of a full-screen game when the Microsoft Game bar is visible on top of the game. Addresses an issue that prevents the removal of Bluetooth® peripheral devices from some systems with specific Bluetooth radios. Addresses an issue that may cause event 7600 in the Domain Name System (DNS) server event log to contain an unreadable server name. Addresses an issue in which the dots per inch (DPI) of the guest does not match the host. Addresses an issue that may cause an external USB device or SD memory card to be reassigned to an incorrect drive during installation. For more information, see “This PC can’t be upgraded to Windows 10” error on a computer that has a USB device or SD card attached. The AchieVer
Microsoft Resolves Two Critical Bugs Blocking Windows 10 May 2019 Update Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 cumulative update KB4497935 a few hours ago for devices running the May 2019 Update, also known as version 1903. The changelog includes two key fixes aimed at bugs that previously blocked Windows 10 version 1903 from being installed on a number of computers, including an issue affecting external USB devices and SD memory card readers. Previously, Microsoft set an upgrade block on systems with external USB devices and SD card readers plugged in, explaining that installing Windows 10 May 2019 Update could fail. Cumulative update KB4497935comes to resolve this behavior, as per the official changelog. “Addresses an issue that may cause an external USB device or SD memory card to be reassigned to an incorrect drive during installation. For more information, see "This PC can't be upgraded to Windows 10" error on a computer that has a USB device or SD card attached,” Microsoft explains.Windows Sandbox failing on May updateAdditionally, the same update also resolves a problem that blocks some D3D apps from running in full screen after installing the May update. From the release notes published by Microsoft: “Addresses an issue that may prevent some Direct3D applications and games from entering full-screen mode if the display’s orientation has been changed from the default.” Windows 10 May 2019 Update is currently rolling out to users in waves on Windows Update, but users can also upgrade their devices with the Media Creation Tool. However, Microsoft recommends everyone to delay the manual upgrade if a known issue affects their devices. Microsoft still has several issues to resolve in Windows 10 May 2019 Update, and one of them breaks down Windows Sandbox. The company says that Windows Sandbox could fail with error code “0x80070002” on devices where the bug exists, and a patch is expected in late June.
