Microsoft Releases Windows 10 Cumulative Updates KB4497934 and KB4499183

Microsoft has released new cumulative updates for Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) and April 2018 Update (version 1803).

The two cumulative updates are KB4497934 and KB4499183, respectively, and they bring lots of bug fixes, including for an issue causing looping redirects between Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer.

Additionally, Microsoft has included updated time zone information for certain regions, like Morocco and Palestinian Authority. You can check out the changelog in full in the box after the jump.Download and installMore important, however, is that both updates introduce a new feature in Windows Update that allows users to download and install OS feature updates separately from quality updates, also known as cumulative updates.

“We are introducing functionality that allows you to decide when to install a feature update. You control when you get a feature update while simultaneously keeping your devices up to date,” Microsoft explains.

“Feature updates that are available for eligible devices will appear in a separate module on the Windows Update page (Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update). If you would like to get an available update right away, select Download and install now.”

Microsoft rolls out this feature together with the May 2019 Update, which is now available for the first users from Windows Update. This means those who receive the new OS feature update can download and install it separately from the cumulative updates also shipped on Windows Update.

These two updates come with the same known issues as the previous cumulative updates.

Installing Windows 10 cumulative update KB4497934 increases the OS build number to 17763.529, while cumulative update brings Windows 10 to 17134.799. You can check the version of your Windows installation by typing winver in the Start menu and you should install these cumulative updates to get Windows 10 May 2019 Update, if you are part of the first wave of devices getting it.
