The Ubuntu Budgie 19.04 operating system arrived today as part of the major Ubuntu 19.04 (Disco Dingo) release, adding several new features, a new look, and other improvements.

Shipping with the latest Budgie 10.5 desktop environment by default with the latest budgie-applets, the Ubuntu Budgie 19.04 operating system replaces the Nautilus file manager with Nemo from the Cinnamon desktop environment as it retains desktop icons capability and integrates with the Catfish search utility.

Ubuntu Budgie 19.04 also features a brand-new desktop theme called QogirBudgie, which is accompanied by the Arc GTK and Pocillo themes, powered by the latest GTK+ 3.24 toolkit and using the Mutter 3.32 window and composite manager from the GNOME 3.32 desktop environment.

"Based on [Ubuntu Budgie] 18.04 & 18.10 experiences, feedback and suggestions that we have received from our users, the new release comes with a lot of new features, fixes and optimizations. This release is a big step towards our 20.04 LTS," said David Mohammed, Ubuntu Budgie Project Leader.Powered by Linux kernel 5.0Under the hood, Ubuntu Budgie 19.04 comes with the same core components included in the Ubuntu 19.04 (Disco Dingo) operating system, namely the Linux 5.0 kernel series, GCC 8.3 system-wide compiler, and Python 3.7.2 as default Python implementation. Of course, this release also includes performance optimisations and bug fixes.
