Microsoft Also Releases Windows 10 Cumulative Update KB4495666 for Version 1903

The April 2019 Patch Tuesday cycle brought cumulative updates for all Windows 10 versions, including for the upcoming May 2019 Update launching next month.

The April 2019 Patch Tuesday cycle brought cumulative updates for all Windows 10 versions, including for the upcoming May 2019 Update launching next month.

What’s important to know is that the May 2019 Update, also referred to as version 1903, is still part of the Windows Insider program, so only testers can try it out.

The cumulative update for Windows 10 version 1903 is KB4495666 and it increases the OS build number to 18362.53. As usual, if you want to check out the build number after installing the update, you can just hit the Windows key + R and type winver.

KB4495666 is available for all rings of the Windows Insider program and only includes security fixes. Microsoft, however, hasn’t provided any release notes for this update, but does mention that it lands as a part of the monthly patching rollout.

“Microsoft released a new cumulative update to Window Insider program Slow, Fast and Release Preview rings. If you have updated to Build 18356.30 – your device will be offered this build. This update also includes security updates that come as part of the normal monthly Patch Tuesday release cycle,” Microsoft explains on the official KB page.Workaround already availableOn the other hand, Microsoft did reveal that cumulative update KB4495666 comes with a known issue, explaining that Windows Defender Application Guard or the Windows Sandbox could fail with error 0x800705b4 after the install.

A workaround does exist, and it is available on the page linked above, and the company says that it’s also working on a full fix that would be included in an upcoming release.

Windows 10 May 2019 Update is projected to go live for production devices late next month, but the RTM build is already available for insiders in the Release Preview ring. However, expect more cumulative updates to be shipped by the time the go-ahead is given.
