Official Raspberry Pi Keyboard and Mouse Are Now Available for Order

The Raspberry Pi foundation announced today the worldwide availability of the official keyboard and mouse input devices for its tiny Raspberry Pi computers.

The Raspberry Pi foundation announced today the worldwide availability of the official keyboard and mouse input devices for its tiny Raspberry Pi computers.

Yes, you’re reading it right, there’s now official Raspberry Pi keyboard and mouse you can buy and use with your tiny Raspberry Pi single-board computer. By official, we mean that they are manufactured and supported by the Raspberry Pi foundation for a more streamlined experience.

The official Raspberry Pi keyboard is a 78-key matrix and comes in six different layouts for English (US), English (UK), Spanish, Italian, French, and German languages, as well as with an integrated USB Hub so you can connect more devices through three USB 2.0 type-A ports. Support for more languages will be available soon.

“The PCB for the keyboard and hub was designed by Raspberry Pi, so we control the quality of components and assembly,” said Simon Martin, Senior Principal Engineer. “We fitted the best USB hub IC we could find, and we worked with Holtek on custom firmware for the key matrix management. The outcome of this is the ability for the Pi to auto-detect what country the keyboard is configured for.”Available for order todayOn the other hand, the official Raspberry Pi mouse features three buttons and a scroll-wheel. It's an optical mouse that comes with high-quality Omron switches for the best-in-breed click experience and reduced weight for the best response to movement. Both devices match the colors of the official Raspberry Pi case.

The official Raspberry Pi keyboard and mouse are available for order today from approved resellers via Raspberry Pi foundation’s online store, as well as from the Raspberry Pi shop in Cambridge, UK. Customers can purchase them individually or together, as well as as part of the new Raspberry Pi Starter Kit.

I use my Raspberry Pi 3B+ as a portable device with power from an Anker 20000 Power Bank, and use a Fosmon Bluetooth keyboard with built in mouse pad that is smaller than a dollar bill.  A keyboard and mouse ruins the small portable use of a Pi if you need a table/desk to put it on.
