Back in 2017, Gun Media released the Kickstarter-funded Friday the 13th: The Game. Though we don’t hear too much about the game these days, the idea behind it was certainly a solid one, as it offered eight-player multiplayer matches in which seven camp counselors attempt to avoid Jason Voorhees while trying to get to safety. Today, we learned that the game will soon be heading Nintendo Switch, two years after it initially launched.

This Switch port of the game is officially dubbed Friday the 13th: The Game Ultimate Slasher Switch Edition, which is quite the mouthful. It’ll ship with all of the DLC that was released for the game on other platforms, save for the Kickstarter-exclusive DLC that was only offered to backers.

Gun Media confirmed the port to Variety today, saying that it’ll be out sometime this spring. A more specific release date wasn’t given, nor was a price. At the moment, the base game costs $20 on Steam, but considering that the Switch version includes all of the DLC released that’s been publicly released, we can probably count on this version costing $30 or $40.

Unfortunately, this Switch port doesn’t mean that Gun Media is resuming development on Friday the 13th. Thanks to a lawsuit over the ownership of characters from the franchise, Gun Media is currently restricted from adding new content to the game.

That isn’t likely to change even once that lawsuit comes to an end, so for all intents and purposes, the version that shows up on the Switch this spring will probably be the final, complete game. We’ll keep an eye out for more information on Friday the 13th‘s Switch port, so stay tuned for more.
