Microsoft Releases Another Windows 10 April 2020 Update Build with New Emoji

Microsoft has just released a new Windows 10 Insider Preview build for Skip Ahead insiders, who are already testing the OS update due in April 2020.

Windows 10 build 18845 is part of the 20H1 development branch and comes with the update to Emoji 12.

“In early February, the set of emoji to be included with Emoji 12.0 was finalized by Unicode, and with today’s build when you press WIN+(period) or WIN+(semicolon), all of these emoji now have keywords hooked up to make them easy to search for. Try it once you install the build! Keywords include otter, sloth, waffle, ballet shoes, and more,” Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, explains.

There are no other new features in this OS update, and Microsoft focused mostly on other general changes and improvements, and you can check them in full in the box after the jump.

Worth highlighting are fixes for the Start menu and Microsoft Edge, with the latter previously crashing on launch on some devices.Known issuesJust like Windows 10 19H1 builds that are shipped to Fast ring insiders, this new Windows 10 April 2020 Update build comes with issues hitting a number of games with anti-cheat software, and Microsoft says that in some cases, a fatal crash could be encountered.

Windows 10 20H1 is projected to be finalized in approximately one year, and then released to users beginning with April 2020. Microsoft says it started the testing process so early because some of the features it plans to include in this update need more thorough testing.

For the time being, only Skip Ahead ring users are allowed to try out these builds, with the Fast ring sticking with 19H1 updates for the time being. The Fast ring will move to 19H2 preview builds when the April 2019 Update ships next month.
