User Profiles in Windows 10 allow several different users on the same machine to customise their Windows experience to their liking. We’re going to show you how to remove these profiles, and thankfully Windows 10 has made this nice and simple.

A user profile stores personal preferences, application settings, documents and data within the C drive on your computer. We’re going to show you how to remove one of these, should you wish to do it.

You’re going to need administrator privileges on your account when you do this - we have a guide to set on how to create an account with administrator status just here too.

How to delete a profile in Windows 10

  • Press your Windows Key (located between Ctrl and Alt at the bottom left of your keyboard and R at the same time.
  • The Run box will open up in front of you. Into the field, type “systempropertiesadvanced” and press OK.

WindowsdeleteuserRun

  • On the windows that pops up, hit the Settings button under the User Profiles heading and you’ll be presented with another window showing the current active profiles.

WindowsDeleteProfileSettings

  • Select the user profile here that you wish to delete, and then hit the Delete button when it is highlighted. You will be asked to confirm your choice, just hit OK.

The next time you sign into Windows, a fresh new user profile will be automatically generated for you, free from the problems and issues of the old one. It’s as simple as that!
