Microsoft to Release February 2019 Windows 10 Cumulative Updates Tomorrow 

Microsoft will roll out the February 2019 Patch Tuesday security updates tomorrow, and as it happens every month, new cumulative updates for Windows 10 will also be included.

Windows 10 cumulative updates include both security and non-security fixes, and they also comprise all the previously-released improvements.

In other words, installing the latest cumulative update for Windows 10 brings a device completely up-to-date, though it goes without saying that a system that hasn’t been updated in a long time needs to download a much larger update.

While there are no details on the cumulative updates that will be released this month for Windows 10, it’s worth noting that Home and Pro SKUs are only serviced on Fall Creators Update (version 1709) and newer. The previous releases get updates on Enterprise and Education versions as part of the LTSC branch.October 2018 Update cumulative patchWindows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) will get a cumulative update of its own. This update was launched in October and then re-published in November after Microsoft fixed a major bug potentially causing user data removal.

The rollout of this particular OS version is still under way, and cumulative updates like the ones launching tomorrow are supposed to fix Microsoft refine its performance and resolve the remaining bugs.

The cumulative update aimed at Windows 10 version 1809 is expected to resolve a bug causing applications that use a Microsoft Jet database with the Microsoft Access 97 file format to fail to open. Microsoft originally said a patch for this issue was projected to launch in early February, and now it looks like the target is this month’s Patch Tuesday.

A second bug causing Microsoft Edge to fail to load local websites could also be fixed, though in this case no specifics on the ETA were provided.

We’ll publish additional follow-up articles when the new cumulative updates go live, so if you think installing the latest patches is a risky thing to do, now is a good time to disable automatic updates.

backup always is good practice, because not only the software could fail, but also the hardware, specially storage drives, such as HDD, SSD, CD, DVD, etc.
