A Banksy mural on a door of the Bataclan theatre in Paris, where 90 people were killed in a terror attack, has been stolen.

The work, one of a series of murals painted last June in the French capital and attributed to the British street artist, showed a veiled female figure looking downwards.

"We are today filled with a deep sense of indignation. The work of Banksy, a symbol of contemplation belonging to all - residents, Parisians and citizens of the world - has been taken from us," the Bataclan said on Twitter.

Police say thieves with a van stole the door which houses the mural.

The Bataclan theatre was the site of a terrorist attack during a packed rock concert in November 2015.

The violence was part of a number of coordinated attacks in and around Paris that ultimately killed 130 people.

The murals of Banksy have become valuable attractions for collectors.

A work created last month in Port Talbot in Wales sold for over £100,000.
